Downloading content when XBOX is OFF??

Ive heard you can download large demos etc even while the 360 is in standby or off? is this right, and if so how do i go about getting this feature? It would help loads as right now i keep my xbox running at night to download large demos.

Assuming you've got the latest update from Live (which you will if you've connected to Live anytime in the last few weeks), go to System > Console Settings > Shutdown > Background Downloads and Enable it. Job done

The feature you are referring to actually puts the 360 into a very low power mode, not off. Once the downloads are done only then will it truely turn off.

Not even Microsoft with all their profits can get an electrical piece of hardware to continue working with no power going through it!

thanks guys, i figured out how to do it about 5 mins after i posted this topic

, but my mate had totally mis-lead me by saying the xbox totally shuts down when doing downloads. I was very gutted when i did a test download to see and hear that the xbox was still running. He lead me to beleave the console totally shut down, hopeing that i could get some shut eye without the xbox keeping me awake!!!

It'd be impossible to do it if it was off though! Still needs some level of power to manage the download.

Well my fans are quite loud but when it goes into stand by mode for either charging my wireless pad or finishing a download it gets much much quieter so it shouldn't keep you awake

why dont u get a recharger and some ms batteries.

Err because I use the MS play and charge kit, 360 is in my lounge so low level fan noise doesn't bother me whatsoever as I'll be upstairs anyway

The confused icon was used as I was surprised the 360 was loud when in stand by mode for MikeyK.
