I agree completely - some of my best ever gaming expereinces have been on Nintendo consoles. Great gameplay has never needed photo-realistic graphics, hours or FMV and speach, blood and guts etc etc.
Yes - for some titles these things can add to the immersion factor, but at the end of the day its playability. Hours I have spent on Zelda, Mario, Mariokart, Goldeneye, Banjo, Blastcorps, Pilot Wings etc etc.
The fact the Wii is pretty much selling more than the PS3 and 360 combined indicates it must be appealling to more than kids - there are not enough of them with enough money for a start.
Its strange that given its popularity over the N64 and Cube, that I have so far found the Wii the least rewarding Big N console I have owned. The 360 has been used far more, in fact since finishing Zelda its hardly been on. Perhaps because its now appealling to non-gamers, means that its not appealling to hardcore gamers?
