I am confused !! And it dont take much !!

I am very keen to get a 360 premium.

BUT.... i have read somewhere about getting the one with the better drive in it !!!

So what one has the better drive ? the older 360's that you can get second hand or the newer 360's in the shops ?

Also with the relise of the new HD-DVD Drive soon, will new 360's have this HD-DVD drive built in ? or still as an add on.

Any help will be gladly taken !!

Thanx in advance, Si

I think also there is a better drive to go for when it comes to modding the Xbox 360.....not really got into thet....YET

They may possibly bundle the 360 with the new HD-DVD drive when it's released.

Yeah I'd say it's always better buying new if possible although got mine just after release and have had no problems whatsoever (touch wood).

Don't worry aswell when you get one and it locks up now and again, it only usually happens when navigating the menu's now and again.

Congrats on getting a great console and like Signs says, get onto live ASAP as it adds so much more to an already great console

Re: I am confused !! And it dont take much !!

If you by a 360 now from a large chain store, there's a good chance you will get one with the new 78k revision drive.

This drive, right now cannot be flashed with hacked firmware via software.

So be careful if thats what you got in mind.

I'd go second hand personally if thats what your after to make sure, or ask in the shop to have a look at the manufacturing date (small window on box).

If its Augast or later then DON'T BUY IT.

The drives that are easy to flash are the noisier Hitachi ones....

Re: I am confused !! And it dont take much !!

As people have mentioned, the newer drives are quieter (so that's better) but you need an older model if flashing the firmware is what you're after however you'll have to go second hand to get one with a hitachi drive. Chances are you'll get a samsung drive,

Re: I am confused !! And it dont take much !!

they only flash the drive to enable the machine to play copied games.
i would not recomend you to have the drive flashed.
your warranty will probably be void.
also you could be banned from xbox live.
playing on live is one of the best things on the 360.
apart from being able to play illegal copies there is no advantage flashing the drive.
