Will I need a VGA cable to use the HD-DVD properly?

I've trawled the site but can't find an exact answer to this question.

I don't know whether to wait for the HD-DVD or but the s52. I will wait for the HD-DVD if it will OK via the component as I can't get the VGA right on my panel properly.

Can anyone help please?

It will be able to output at 720p over component but how they are going to sort the 1080p output will be interesting.
