component and vga together

is it possible to use vga for watching dvd's as well asusing component for playing games without having to switch over the cables or can you only have one set of leads in at a time?

I'd like my Xbox to output both, you could do it with a VGA - Component coverter but I can't find one anywhere.

The way I see it is you use the VGA lead, go into a VGA splitter and convert one of the outputs into Component.

I could do it the other way (Component to VGA) now but that's not what I need. You could do this if it's what works for you.
