Why is there such a lack of decent 360 games?

Last month i bought a 360, i was going to hold out for a PS3 but gave in due to all the delays, so i'd thought that a machine that had been out for months would have a good few decent games out, but in all honesty i can barely see anything worthwhile to buy, ok some games are good but just not my taste, but even counting this you'd expect a good few games that are upto the next generation standards. So where are all the good games, or when are they coming out????

You will get cained here now. As you say yourself, some games are good but not to your taste. So it's you and not the games.

Right, so didnt you have a look at the games already out and scheduled to arrive over the next six months before you bought your 360? Seems a bit of a strange thing to spend £280 on a machine and have no idea if the games available/to be released are your thing? Its all a matter of taste, I can think of at least 6-7 great games. Should've done you're research mate.

No console has ever had a really strong set of games for at least the first year. People need time to figure how to code properly. That said, the 360 launch is one of the strongest in recent years. Some great games available, and once the major franchises, like Pro Evo, starting hitting, it'll be great again.

Personally, I'm really looking forward to a fully next gen Burnout, PES not to mention Superman and Spider-Man 3. Imagine a bigger Spider-Man 2 with next gen graphics? And they still have 12 months to work at it!

Its only been out and available in quantity for less than 3 months

It was a worldwide release - meaning we don't get a larger choice of games at launch than US\JAP (this is the first time in recent years)

There's what..30 games out at the mo...many are crap but then they always have been at launch...

have you tried call of duty? probably the best 360 game imo

Also DOA4 is really good for fighting.

I think theres a few 360 games that cover all the genres out there maybe you just havent found yours yet

Why not abuse the 10 day return at game?

I can pick 10 great games, easily.

Oblivion
Burnout Legends
Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter
King Kong
Fight Night Round 3
Battlefield 2
Kameo
Call of Duty 2
Perfect Dark Zero
Project Gothan Racing

I could still mention Gun, Ridge Racer, Quake 4, Full Auto, The Outfit, none of which are outstanding but none of which are crap.

Plus we have the whole Xbox Live! Arcade section too.

Last post is right.

There's plenty of quality out there, but if they are not to your taste you should have held off buying one tbh.

Fight Night 3 is absolutely sensational.

The boxer graphics and animation are out of this world. However the backgrounds are dire, sub-xbox standard even. Especially the warehouse.

The game itself is incredible, haven't even touched oblivion really since playing on it. If FN3 doesnt whet your appetite, you can't really be a gaming fan IMO.

I disagree about Fight Night 3 found it to be a poor game but I wasn't expecting much from EA could of been lot better.

Look at the line up for the coming months it looks very good to me.

Hitman: Blood Money
Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II,
Dead Rising
Frame City Killer

There only some theres many unknown name games which also look very good

I kinda disagree. While they weren't as good as the boxers themselves, they were above average Xbox games. Some of the lighting effects were great. That said, they could have done more with the arenas, but not at the expense of the boxers, where the main game is.

Gotta agree on Fight Night 3, Haven't even played the full game, just the demo and I can tell that would be a great one to own...

I know what the OP means tho, Dunno about you lot but I'm not too keen on EA games in general, the sports ones at least.

Maybe he's after something like a new Grand Theft Auto, Gran Turismo, FFXII...

You know the ones that everyone knows about (obviously these aren't for the xbox just examples!)

If your after one of those blockbuster smash hit type games, then yeah...there aren't ANY!...yet

Nothing wrong with the croud in FN3

Read that in a few places (looks rubbish)

Can anyone think of a game where the cround looks better than "average"...

Never seen a croud in any sports titles that looks good.

I would agree that good game releases have been slow until recently.i have relied on arcade & game demos to get me by !

but now the better titles are starting to arrive....graw,tomb raider, battlefield 2 and a steady flow of quality titles still to come.

I disagree, The Outift is Amazing one of the best online games I have played on the 360, and Elders Scrolls in my opinion is Pants, Kameo is Amazing though..and Top Spin 2 is prolly the best offline multiplayer game...

My problem with the 360 has been that they have released too many great games within a short timescale. I've bought 11 games for the console since December and that level of game buying has never been seen by me before. Even in the Speccy, Amiga and Megadrive days I would get maybe 1 game a month.

I would have expected me to have bought maybe 5 games by now, but 11 was totally unexpected!

Great console and a great games library is developing at a pretty quick rate!

I've bought/played every single game out in the UK bar FarCry so far, I'd never have done this (and have never done this) with any other console. Very strange!

Loads of great games out already though, PGR3, Oblivion, Geometry Wars, Mutant Storm, Outpost Kaloki X, Fight Night, Call of Duty 2, Kameo, GRAW, many more to come too, cannot wait for E3.

Same thing will happen with the PS3, always does and always will happen when new console comes out.

I have to admit, after the initial hype, I've become a little bored of my 360 too.

PGR was a bit of a disappointment in that the online play didn't grab me like it did with PGR2 (where did all the rammers come from??), SP was a lot easier too. (not to mention the freaky x600 res and all the jaggies).

Another title I was looking forward to was Top Spin 2 which turned out to be a big disappointment.

I was blown away by Fight Night 3 at first, very nice looking in places, decent-ish game play at times BUT:

Why no single player ranking sys?
Why do you have to fight on the right even online? (that's when you finally get someone to accept a fight, where the person doesn't quit in the settings menu or during the fight)
Why such a reliance on haymakers?
Why is the SP career boxer unavailable to select online until you retire him?
Why did they introduce those newbie config settings? FN is about fighting with the analog stick, not mashing buttons. At least you should be able to disable particular control config’s online.

It’s as though the games are almost there but they feel very rushed at times. Hopefully something like Test Drive: Unlimited will get me back playing again sometime.

have to agree with whats been said with fight night, its easily my favourite game (apart from oblivion ) and i havent played it single player yet. me and my mates have just started 'fight nights' which means we invite our little close group of friends (around 10 people) around mine, have far too much beer and snacks, and play fnr3 in our own knock out system (we even have charts, how sad )
even the missus will get involved, and i honestly think this is the way this type of game is meant to be played. its so much fun and its the kind of gaming equivelent to a poker night, everyone totally looks forward to it.

i think quite a lot of the genres are covered by at least one really good game, and the console hasnt even been out long. so there isnt anything to worry about. give it a little more time and im sure you'll see something you like. if not then you should'nt have bought one in the first place!

There does seem to be quite a few fps I will give you that one, but I love fps so that’s a good thing in my book. I think the op should remember that games are abit rough when first launched with the console, but will get much better. I wouldn’t go as far to say that the games are disappointing, but I will say that there is certainly room for improvement. I have 8 games now I think, but still only really ever play PD0. Though hexic is quite addicitive (hello Mr Screenburn). I think the problem for many is that there are huge bugs in the game which are hugely influential on people’s enjoyment ie GRAW – ruined because of the controls, COD – only 8 people online, DOA – lag issues, PDZ – poor in single player, Fifa – poor effort. Unfortunately if they had spent a little more time on such issues, we would have been a lot better off for it.

It also annoys me when forum members say that the graphics aren’t next gen. Compare LAUNCH titles of the ps2 with the launch titles of the 360 – there is a clear difference. Anyone from a pc background will not notice that much of a difference but for the console boys there cant be an argument on this.

The only thing that currently REALLY bugs me about it all is the amount of rude kids on live. Some people should learn some respect, before I force it down them

Regards

Field Marshall Owen

If you bored of the selection of games for the 360, you should get a xbox, ps2, psp, or DS.

They should keep you busy till the PS3 comes along

I've got them, Resident Evil 4 on the gamecube has had more play than the entire 360 games.

Personal preferrence really - I only got half way through the GC version of RE4 and haven't bothered to finish it yet (even though I got it when it was released in the US). Oblivion has had more play of late than any other console game I can think off.

The Outfit plays like a bad arcade game on live, thats what i reckon. It does not have the right amount of modes to rival great PC and 360 FPS's.

But that is what I reckon.
