Hey everyone, I decided to just post it up in the thread to get the maximum amount of feedback, I look forward to your answers and once again, thank you very much.


First of all I want to apologise for the poor layout of the questionnaire, I copied it in from a Word document so all the formatting is not perfect. I posted it in all the different gaming forums in the hope that the results would provide some conflict. Some people may not visit the X360 forum and may just come for the Nintendo or PS boards if you get what I mean.

Probably the Xbox360, it's the only next gen console at the moment and ontop of the superb graphics, I'm impressed with all of the feautures such as free downloadable demos, Xbox Live arcade etc. very well rounded!

No, I tend to like all of the brands, each console always has it's exclusive classics, hence the reason I usually buy all of them. If I had to choose I'd probably go for Nintendo as they tend to offer up the most original games IMO.

10. When Microsoft first entered the video games market with the original Xbox, what were your thoughts on the Xbox brand?

It was good to see another competitor enter the fold. Personally I didn't consider buying the original black Xbox as I hated the chunky black look of the thing. I bought one when the Limited Edition Crystal was first released.

11. Four years later and with the introduction of the Xbox 360, what are your thoughts of the Xbox brand?

Sold, it's gone from strength to strength, well impressed, untouchable at the moment for graphics & online play

12. Would you buy a console because it is the first to the market with new technology?

Yes & No(not dependant but it would have an influence if the competition was a long way behind, as with the Xbox360)

13. If you did not presently own a console, which would you choose from the following and why?

On a low budget: Nintendo Gamecube(because it's cheap & has loads of classic games which can be picked up cheap too)
If I could afford: Microsoft Xbox 360(because it's really starting to show what next gen gaming can offer)

It's a close one, between Dreamcast and N64. Both consoles had truly groundbreaking and enjoyable games, and as a collector the Japanese imports that both machines had made all the difference to me

Nintendo first and foremost, but definitely not exclusively. I particularly like Microsoft's two xboxes

I was always impressed by the xbox. The decision to implement a HDD was very exciting at the time. Glad they changed the original pad tho!

Live particularly is the Killer App at the minute. Plus, I love the design of the 360. It's a fantastic machine. Oh, and the dashboard is great.

To be honest, yes. Unless it was too expensive

Gamecube or 360. The games and the technology of both appeal to me

The PES5 factor means the Playstation 2 is the console I still spend the most time on. That said, the 360 is a lot easier to use in many ways, and I also spend more time than is healthy on that too.... I'm sorry, but I just can't choose between them at the moment!

No. I can afford more than one console, so I don't see any reason to limit my choice of games.

The games are the most important thing, pure and simple. None of the other things really matter to me (unless they've really messed up the controllers, or something.)

A brand means little to me. I just saw the Xbox as Bill's attempt to snatch a share of the market that Sony had exploited so well.

Much the same, but I think they're more determined than I first thought..

Yes....No..... Well, I think that's a pretty vague question. Again it depends on the available games and how they exploit the new hardware. Put it this way, I was really interested in the PS2 before it came out, but I didn't actually buy one until Grand Turismo 3 became available. After all, what use is the hardware without decent software?

Never liked M$ as a company due to its underhand tactics with its competitors so stayed away. Then as the games begun to shine and price dropped i jumped aboard

Id say my Japanese Nintendo 64, just for sheer joy of Mario 64 and Waverace.

Id say I was more loyal to Nintendo, even though I do have other consoles
Nintendo have always given me some of my most played and most enjoyed games ever. You cannot beat some Mario / Zelda / Mario Kart / Metroid / kirby etc etc etc...all classic and stunning. If I had to choose one console to play forever, it would be the Nintendo 64.

10. When Microsoft first entered the video games market with the original Xbox, what were your thoughts on the Xbox brand?

The design of the original XBOX put me off from the very beginning, it shouted
Microsoft from miles away, so I stayed clear for a while, and also I had a PS2 at the time and the few quality games coming out on there were good enough. I have never really played Halo etc which are xbox exclusives, so there is a good call for having the console, I just never got around to it.

11. Four years later and with the introduction of the Xbox 360, what are your thoughts of the Xbox brand now?

I bought a 360 on the 1st day of release (I was one of the lucky ones to get a pre-order). The brand itself is a lot sleeker and redefined now, but I think it has been damaged by the earlier chaos in the console and the even worse peripheral shortages. When reading about the 360 in the build up to release I was drawn in by the whole online aspect, which has almost come to fruition now. Its not as good as they wanted to put across, the slowness of demos being released, or old demos being released which are so bugged that you cant complete them (kong) doesnt help with the overall service, but I cannot complain about any problems playing online so far. There was a slight problem with Dead or Alive 4 and its lag situation, but that seemed to calm down after a while. Overall the brand is good in my eyes.

No

Nintendo Gamecube, for games which take you into another world. Zelda / Mario.
