I take it you have tried setting up you 360 as a DMZ?

That is what I have always done (ie with xbox and 360) and it seems more reliable that way.

Yes I had the same problem with Be Unlimited. This is what you need t do:
Open Network Connections
Right click on the icon on your gateway & go properties
Click Setting
Click Add
Name Xbox(192.168.1.6X:3074) 3074 UDP
IP: 192.168.1.6X
Port: 3074 UDP
Port: 3074 UDP

Ok

x signifies the number for your IP address for 360 & I already know you are on the Be network so it will mostlikely be 64 or 65. this will work. I also advise that on xbox you let it know to always use this Ip it will save you ahving to enter all this in if IP switches

When i download demo's, half way through i get a message saying the download could not be completed. It basically pauses itself or something. Its not the NAT, its open.

And i've got the screensaver disabled. What else could it be?

You have joined my world of frustration with Be. I ahve spent endless hours on the phone with India (i.e their tech team). I have even gone to the extent of buying a wifi card (to no avail) & formatting my c: drive then windows). They have been of no help but I will part some of my wisdom that had resulted in me pulling all my hair out & now I am bold!!

1. Update the lan drivers on your pc
2. On usb you will have more consistent connection
3. Right click on your lan icon for router...disable....then enable (works a treat)
4. On your lan icon enter manual DNS...I have the setting at home but u can phone them for it
5. Same on usb if using usb
6. Stop using file sharing cos that's when the problems arose for me
7. If you call them they will say that they are putting you on a more stable connection which basically means they will put you on an ADSL line instead of ADSL2+

Do point 1. then 4 then 3 & you should be okay...if all else fails after this, reset the router with a pin holding it till the power light goes red & the other lights switch off (par from the light that shows connection with pc & 360 if on) & see what happens.

Disabling & then enabling is very effective to regain connection

by the way you need to forward the following ports:-

It's ports 3074 (both TCP & UDP) and 88 UDP you need!

try this first as it's quickest. (nearly as quick as searching for "port forwarding" on this forum)

This won't solve your current issue...he is talking about NAT which I believe is sorted now. Just follow those steps & let me know how you get on

I'm afraid I can't comment (I don't have BE). Basically forward the ports listed from the place you have to do it from (sorry to be vague).

Can anyone tell Starfleets where he does this from?

It might do though - port forwarding isnt setup properly and potentially could cause this issue - however it's probably the ISP connection at fault, however saying this, it is importnat to sort out port forwarding so it's 100% correct (just in case)

Thankyou it worked perfectly. You may not be great at making sandwiches, but atleast you put yourself across as a nice helpful person.

P.S. It only took the driver to be updated.

I had to remove this method so i could play FIFA. But i still need to address the NAT issue..and i told the 360 to always USE THE SAME IP ADDRESS.

Yet it does not help (i removed the modified approach you illustrated above). I still have a strict NAT. Is there anway i can address this using the Be Box Config browser window?

p.s. officially desperate lol

Just to make sure...

when go into your network connections & right click on Internet Gateway icon...Proerties...Settings...do you have the xbox settings on the correct IP with UDP opened on 3074.

I ahev tries using the speedtouch page to set Xbox live as open BUT it is tempremental & the only sure way for me is to 'Add' the setting to the properties of the Internet Gateway

You see..the problem is there. I can do that, and it works great. Nat OPEN.

Yet when i play FIFA, cannot connect to EA server. So when i went to the network connections and DELETED those new additions (3074 etc), my NAT was strict BUT FIFA could still connect.

Why does FIFA dislike the 3074 port? Is there a way to get around this?

NAT STRICT: FIFA
NAT OPEN: FIFA

I got this e-mail from EA...

Now if your DSL or Cable modem connects directly to your Xbox already, try power cycling the modem itself. This means unplugging the modem from the wall, waiting one or more minutes and then plugging it back in. Restart the system and try again.
If at this point it still does not work, check to make sure that the ports specific to Xbox Live are opened up on your Internet Service Provider's end. These are the ports that need to be open in both incoming and outgoing directions:
UDP Ports: 88 & 3074
TCP Port: 3074

Try repeating the original step another 2 times incl. same names & Xbox IP under both:

1. 3074 TCP 3074 TCP
2. 88 UDP 88 UDP

So in total under the default internet gateway you would have a total of 3 listings for the Xbox(192.168.1.6X:3074) 3074 UDP

obviously changing the neames to

1. Xbox(192.168.1.6X:3074) 3074 TCP
2. " " " :88) 88 UDP

let me know.

One thing I have found with the Be box router is that some times when I do the network test on my 360 it comes up with a strict NAT and other times an open NAT. I believe there is no way to change this within a router and the only way is to switch to a different router which provides an open NAT. I also believe that routers on the MS official compatibility list are more likely to offer this. The hard part is to find one on that list which also works with Be's ADSL 2+ DSL service.

There is a way to set it to OPEN always. Magus' method worked perfect for me.

My problem is that the ports i opened, "3074", are somewhat rejected by FIFA RTFWC. When i remove those ports, FIFA works fine.

So i cant have both (an OPEN Nat and a working FIFA Live).

Starfleet, the image quality was really poor but waht I think it showed was the opening of the port on UDP 88...is that correct. My Ip is 192.168.1.65 for the console & all I have opened is port 3074 UDP which is what I outlined earlier & reads as follows:

Description of Service: Xbox(192.168.1.65:3074) 3074 UDP
Name or IP Address: 192.168.1.65
External port of this service: Box 1, 3074. Box 2, 3074 Clicked UDP

with this I have no problem with any of my games incl. NFSMW which also uses the ea servers. I do not have fifa so I cannot comment.

I use Norton Internet Security. be tell me that this is incompatible with their service. I do not believe them. They have also told me that they do not support TCP. This sound ludicrous but early on when I had NAT problems & did not know what was going on this is a comment I received from their tech team.

Repeat this step so Add a second opening reading:

Description of Service: Xbox(192.168.1.65:3074) 3074 TCP
Name or IP Address: 192.168.1.65
External port of this service: Box 1, 3074. Box 2, 3074 Click TCP

And a 3rd opening that reads:

Description of Service: Xbox(192.168.1.65:88) 88 UDP
Name or IP Address: 192.168.1.65
External port of this service: Box 1, 88. Box 2, 88 Click UDP

So you have a total of 3 tick boxes in the properties of the Internet Gateway. I'm not sure if that is what you have already done. If it still does not work then I can only assume that the EA server for FIFA uses TCP port 3074 which if what the Indian chappie told me is true causes a strict NAT as it is not supported on Be.

Also another thing with Be, If you have disconnections or I should say, when your pc cannot detect the ip of the router, which would result in you not being able to browse or get onto Live I think we have finally found the problem. It is surfacing that Be has a contention ratio of 85:1, that means that your line has 84 other users & when a large number are on at teh same time it causes the router to stop sending the signal & results in what we perceive as being disconnected. On the Be forum a couple of us have posted our dissatisafaction at this & Bret has come back with a comment that will cause further dissatisfaction. I have personally given my 3 months notice unless they can resolve the problems I am experiencing. If you are having this problem then this is the time toi let them know. It is under the general discussions forum under a heading about losing connection.

If you use MSN & are comfortable with me having alook at your pc the request a remote assistance & I will take over your cursor & do what I have done on my pc to open the nat. magusuk@hotmail.com

Best of luck & let me know how you get on
