Dell W1900 - what's it like with xbox360?

Hi everyone,

I'm new to these forums but have already found them very useful in answering a few questions that were niggling me! Here's hoping there is someone out there who can help with this one!

I will shortly take delivery of an xbox 360 and would like to try and capitalise upon it's HD output but am not sure if my current monitor is up to it. I have a Dell W1900 LCD TV/Monitor and the indications are that it is "HD compatible", which I am told means it doesn't give the best HD quality as I understand it connects up via the DVI socket instead of HDMI proper. I am also not sure if the leads to be supplied with xbox 360 allow me to link up via the DVI socket and have read in an unrelated HDMI article that I may need to get some sort of adapter?

If there is anyone out there who is using xbox 360 with a Dell W1900 then it would be great to hear from you on how it is shaping up and on whether or not there are connectivity issues I need to prepare for.

Cheers,

Rick

I am using one with joytech components and it is awful but my pc through vga is A1 so i think it is just the poor cables, i will buy an official vga when they are available in the shops.

Thanks for the responses. I'll stick with it for the time being I think!

I am using that exact setup, I will say the Xbox360 component cables led to a very dark output. However I changed to the joytech vga (output at 1280x768) and it was perfect.

For HDMI (which the xbox360 doesn't support) you'd need an HDMI to DVI adapter.

I'm using my Xbox 360 with a Dell W2600(the 26" one) connected using the component cable that came with the 360. Looks amazing in High Def and despite the screens slow response time, I haven't even noticed any motion blur/bleed atall

I also have the Dell 26" and its superb. Have it running through Component and the picture is amazing. Tried the official MS VGA cable with it but found it a little washed out. Stick with the 19", you will be pleasently suprised.

All the talk of response times apparently havent made any difference with the 360.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my enquiry - it looks like a thumbs up all around and you have saved me shelling out a few hundred quid on a new telly/monitor just so that I don't feel I will be missing out on xbox360 capability! Much appreciated.
