Call of Duty 2 Disk Damage

Just recently bought COD, what a game, until the worst thing ever happened. My Xbox 360 has burnt the disk. It will not load the game.
Has anyone had this happen to any games...... not amused.

MY 360 really scratched mine. Certain levels would then no longer work. I bought a disk cleaner from PC world, which removes a very thin layer from the disks surface. The disk works perfectly again now.

I can't guarantee it will work as mine was a scratch not a burn. The cleaner cost £29.99 so its an expensive thing to try if it doesn't work. I didn't want to send the disk away so I tried it following advice from some other posts and it worked for me.

Anyone else with call of duty finding that it makes the drive rather loud whilst running compared to other games.

Don't buy CD/DVD scratch remover, it's essentially Brasso/Silvo (Metal polisher) in a different tin.

It does work yes, but you're getting ripped off for what is essentially a mild corrosive.

Does that mean it'll burn a hole in my disc if I leave it on too long then?

Sorry couldn't resist (bored at work).

Its actually an abbraisive not a corrosive........ but if i pointed that out i would come across as anal.........

But to agree with the above post, brasso will do just fine - rescued many a CD / DVD that way before - especially ones which i rented from screen select which wouldn't *ahem* read correctly

Dave

Nah to be truly anal you would have to point out that it's abrasive and not abbraisive!

Yep, I'm really bored!

Try toothpaste, if it isnt that bad. Get some cotton wool and cover the disc in toothepaste by rubbing it from the inside outwards (otherwise youll scratch it) always works for me. i had a DVD that wouldnt even come up as a DVD in the 360, cleaned with toothpaste and it didnt even jurk/flicker.

Just take the game back it has a 90day warrenty in this country, if they wont replace it then return the 360 and get a replacement, refund via shop or get it replaced over microsoft as its not accidental damage its a fault with the machine.

I had a PGR disc that ended up scored all the way round the outside - shop replaced it without a murmur.

e...r..... actually I'd rotated the 360 thru 90 degrees whilst the game/console was on. Disc rubbed against the tray while I turned the machine, grinding the edges off

Burnt you're disc?? I've only ever seen a player do that once, years ago on a test drive in the labs at work. The motor stopped but the laser stayed engaged. One small hole later... but modern drives don't leave the laser on while the motor ain't going.

Not necessarily.
The scratch remover I bought uses a device that removes the top layer of plastic using an extremely fine sandpaper and the only liquid used is distilled water. There is no corrosive liquid involved and is nothing like Brasso/Silvo. Its called "SkipDr Advanced", see below link:
