Keyboard & Mouse For The XBox 360?

Given that the XBox 360 is now 'out there' does anyone know if it supports a USB Keyboard and Mouse setup in FPS games?

I wish, although I haven't heard any proper plans for keyboard/mouse support yet, there certainly is a small keyboard add-on for the 360 controller, I think at this stage though it's more for messages/in game text etc. than anything else.

I for one am really hoping they will support keyboard/mouse in the not too distant future, I really struggle using controllers on FPS games. Shame as I love that type of game on PC but there's no way I'm forking out for upgrades of my old machine.

I have read that it is the intention of MS NOT to release a keyboard/mouse combo, as they are trying to keep pc gaming and console gaming separate.

from 360 FAQ v2.1..
5.13 Can I use a keyboard and mouse on the Xbox 360?
While Microsoft are allowing keyboards to be plugged into the USB ports on the 360, this will permit text input only for the likes of MMOPRGs and will not allow you to play Halo, Perfect Dark Zero et al using PC-style keyboard/mouse controls. This is a very deliberate ruling on Microsoft's part to ensure that people don't confuse console-style gaming with PC-style gaming. As with other peripherals, it remains to be seen whether third party peripherals will overcome this restriction

Disappointing. I shall stick to my PC then. Mouse/keyboard is the only way to play FPS IMHO.

Even though Microsoft are claiming that they want to keep PC and console gaming seperate, it won't stop them from having every good PC title they can ported over to the X360 regardless of how well you can controll it with the pad.

I prefer playing FPS with a mouse and keyboard but it just wouldnt feel right with a console and with enough practise games like Halo 2 can be played just as well as if you had a keyboard and mouse.

Tell me about it, I got PDZ with my pack from Argos. Seems like a good game but I can not hit a barn door...... maybe more pactice is required. I'm just so used to mouse and keyboard for FPS gaming so I don't hold out a lot of hope of being able to crack it.

IMHO it's nowhere near as good using a joypad for FPS games. We have an XBox at work and I have blasted my way through countless games of Halo and Halo 2 - it's nowhere near as enjoyable as using a mouse/keyboard for continuous free look. It's just disappointing that such an excellent console is so disabled in what is essentially a major genre.

Still a hack/workaround was achieved on the XBox - maybe we can hope for the same on the XBox 360?
