heat an issue? here's why...

just found this article

http://translate.google.com/translat...language_tools

check out the power draw and heat of the various task's!

they seemed very high to me,so decided to do some research and came up
with this.

http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...px?i=2249&p=13

these systems are configured with 1gb of ram and a radeon 800xt.

if the test's done by that german site are correct, then i can see why
the 360 (in such a tiny box)is having heat problems.

i worry for all next gen system's now...........

i'm glad your 360 is keeping it's cool

but you have got to admit that the 360 is kicking out heat equal to a
high end pc?

i just hope microsoft sort a solution to this problem asap, and that sony
are taking steps to avoid this problem with the ps3

When i play PGR3 its like i've installed a air con system rather than a next gen console. I thknk i might of got a special ice cold 360!

Why do M$ need to do anything about it, if the unit works the unit works. if i t ain't broke, don't fix it

It's not a problem, the only time you would have a problem is if it set on fire . in my experiance the more power something has the more heat it creates and i really dont see the ps3 being any different.

When you have a unit this small in size running 3 x 3gig processors, are you suprised at the heat generated?

After running for 4 hours straight my 360 was kicking out less heat than my Laptop (P4 2.80 Ghz - 1 Gb Ram) was after an hour!

PS: Power brick was only vaguely warm as well.

no,i'm not suprised!that's my point.

my pc is alot less powerfull than a 360 in a larger case and a 360 watt p.s
a 120mm exhuast fan at the front plus another one at the back.

on top of this the cpu and graphic's card each have their own heatsink AND
fan.

the 360 has a heatsink on the cpu and graphic card and 2 rear 60-80mm
fans.

the p.s is around 200 watt.

think i'll wait till they shrink down to 65nm!

I heard the best way to keep it cool was to throw it in a bucket of water when playing? :D

Same here, been on now for about 24 hours solid, combination on playing games and downloading content, the 360 has no heat at all and the power supply is only mildly warm on the bottom. If it you wasn't so bl**dy noisy!
