Why am I so tempted to SELL my xbox 360!!!!???

Normally I'd have opened it the minute I got it home, but after waiting for 6 hours in a hot n sticky tesco for it and by the time I got home and checked all of my emails I was so knackered I went str8 to bed (at 4am ish!)

Then this morning my dad isn't doing so well so I've been in hospital all day,got home now and I just don't feel like 'playing' anything - and will prob be busy visiting my dad the next few days at least and probably feeling the same when I get home.

So my xbox 360 is just sitting there along with Kameo sitting there on top of it! Am I really gonna get time to play/enjoy it? Maybe I should just sell it on ebay - they are going for at least double the retail price right now and its not as though I couldn't do with the money! I could spend the 'profit' on a nice subwoofer AND get a 360 when they are back in plentiful supply

what who when wha? would you do?

You have more important stuff going on!

I would keep it and see how you feel in a few days. Unwrap and play on it, that will change your mind!

Perspective is important. Whatever you do with it, I hope your dad is OK. That really IS important.

I've not fired mine up yet. Life gets in the way.

I'll be buying 10grands worth of PS3s.

I figure its a no brainer. Worst I'll do is make my money back . Best I'll do is double my money.

To all the people that were gagging for one and didn't preorder..tough.

To all the people that pre-ordered and didn't get one... sorry never mind ... luck of the draw sometimes.

I hope your dad is OK. Family and friends are what matters.

Also it cant help the fact they are going for mental money on ebay. A guy I play with on live sold 2 today for £500 each cash on collection from his house. And they were only listed for 2 hours.

He had another three people banging on his door. It is tempting to make a fast buck and buy one in the new year. That human nature.

Thanks for your well wishes Steve - I hope he will make a speedy recovery too.

Another thing that is playing on my mind is that he actually bought it for me as it was an early birthday present (which isnt untill january) so am I gonna get all (convienantly) sentimental and let that be a factor?! Or should I really keep perspective (again convienantly of course!) and remember that its just a material thing that will be as common as anything soon and not a like a family heirloom of real value.

Mr D - but I wanted one too! Never intended to make any money our of it, hell I didn't even think I'd get one on launch day, was just lucky to ring up the store and get there in time.. You do have a point about buying 10 grands worth of ps3s tho! If there was a similar shortage you'd rake it in!

I'd say wait too mate..I've just had a death in the family myself and it does make you just feel like doing nothing, see how you feel in a week or so..if it's the same then sell it, at least you know you gave it a try.

Thanks for the support guys.

I will probably open it and have a sneak peak anyway as I should test it and verify it is working if I do decide to let it go. Even if I did decide to keep it I would prob only get the chance to play it a handful of times as I'm really busy decorating at the moment plus with christmas coming buying pressies etc and now I will be helping in my dads business too - so it is tempting to sell it for around £300-possibly-more profit.

I was looking on ebay America and they are still selling at around double which indicates the shops have not been able to replenish enough stocks yet, which could mean there is very little chance of the UK getting many more before Christmas.

Im thinking if I do sell it now it will pay for a 360 and some other stuff and realistically will have more time to play it in the new year

Hope your Dad is getting better Raze - I've just really tried the presets.....Dynamic seems pretty good but there are a few jaggis on PGR3 (only game I have)....people are saying this is because they game is upscaled and not true 720p (naughty microsoft). I believe everything else is native 720p so should be less of an issue.

The console is a wonderfull piece of kit...does so much more than play incredible HD games......keep me psoted how you get on.

They'll be a time for a games machine in the future mate - have no doubt. Best thing at the moment is to concentrate on family. If you're not bothered about playing it then maybe bang it on ebay - grab another after Xmas...

I can well understand your concerns for your family. Had to look after both my parents in the past. Not sure though how you can't play games but can think about making money on Ebay!!. Isn't life all about playing games. Keep it - things will always improve (trust me on that one) Ebay isn't always the answer.

The PS3 is not a Worldwide release as far as I can tell so it will be more difficult to judge how the supply will run here in Europe. Howver, a £20 pre ordered can be cancelled at anytime especially when you know how things are progressing.

Remember the PS3 is going to be alot more expensive as well to start with. 400 quid at least. Then you need to buy the HD. Another 70 quid at least. Much bigger risk and there will be more stock as they are staggering release.

180,000 psp for launch over here. Probably still be money to be made but much much bigger risk. There is no way of knowing how well the PS3 will do at this stage. Its not even in production yet and release over here is at least 12 months away.

Industry are predicting there will have been 10 million 360 sold by this time next year. It could change everything if they are not price competetive and it dosnt look they can afford to be.

When you say it like that the 360 really has got a foot in the door doesn't it, regardless of the flaws on this release.

Tell you what Raze, send me the xbox, and when my preorder finally arrives, I'll send you it back...
Seriously, hope your dad gets better soon. Crack the xbox open and take your mind off real life for a while.
