I'm not holding a gun against anybodys head to bid on my auction, if someone wants to bid high money on it that's thier business. It's not like Xbox 360's are never going to come back into stock again.

At the end of the day this is just a drop in the pan and no one guy can ever really make a difference. 40,000 360's have sold on the US Ebay and thousands are already on Ebay.co.uk so it looks like the price goudging is here to stay.

i don't see the problem in wishing someone bids on your auction.

I just hope they don't pay at the end of it.

The fact that at this time when the vast majority have been let when it comes to buying the xbox at the correct price you show no sign of caring. and in fact seem to relish in the fact you can make a quick buck at others expense. when a lot of folks are only buying them for there children who don't understand the pressure a parent is under in the run up to christmas.

Profiteering on ebay is wrong the shortage is down to people who buy to sell in my eyes not on really. It happens all the time now with consoles and tickets for concerts and will get a whole lot worse...

But should the blame be levied at the ones selling (and profiteering) or the ones willing to buy (and fuelling the profiteering)?

I think that's pretty unfair, I do feel bad about people who preordered early and got screwed by whoever they ordered from and I in no way 'relish' this situation. It was a tough decision whether to sell it at cost to someone who wasn't as lucky as me or to sell it at profit on ebay.

Yeah, I chose the unpopular option of selling for a profit, maybe it was the wrong choice but it's one very many people would make I guess it proves humans are greedy by nature.

Those that start their auctions off at more than the retail price are not to be condoned - that's just wrong.
Those who have no reserve and start off at a much lower price - well how can they be blamed for 3 or 4 people trying to outbid the others, to make sure their kid(s) don't go without one, after expecting to see one on Xmas morning. It's not so bad for the older ones, as they know they'll have it in the New Year, but it's the younger ones who'll be hit the hardest.

I agree with that, at the end of the day you can not control who bids on your items, but can only set fair start prices. However if users bid on items just to wreck the auction and never pay, I believe this is completely wrong and sed users should be banned from eBay.

It's simple supply and demand.

An xbox360 is a luxury item - it's not like these people are profiteering off water , basic food supplies or medicine in an emergency.

Cheers,
Liam

Look at all those receipts, bloody Woolies it should be one per customer. The whole preorder system need to have a complete overhaul after this total shambles, there's got to be a way to limit to one per customer and make sure a preorder deposit actually counts for something.

its ok for shops to rip us off making people buy 2 games from them but not for some one to make a little money for himself for christmas
good luck to you mate the shops like choices have made millions
now they want to make more profit from mugs like us for a couple of exter days
if i was told i would have to buy something from these companys after i just wanted to buy the system id make a right song and dance
its all supply and demand
if i got two id sell for a profit as would anyone else who put thair money up
good luck hope you get what someone is willing to pay
if i was on say 100000 a year id pay 1000 for one for my kid for christmas
but im not so im in the same boat as everyone else hope you have a good one mate

Lets just hope the tax man is not looking at EBay

Hard to prove that multiple Xbox purchases are personal chattels not sold for profit.

I say 'declare those earnings' or forever await the dreaded brown envelope to land on the door mat, when you least expect or can afford.

In this case I think the seller has more than enough spare cash or credit lying around to feed the kids.

Nope leave that to the major corporations who deal in pharmacuticals (sp?) comodities and energy................ i do think its funny i really cannot see what the big deal is for paying way over the odds for an untested poorly supported bit of kit is..........obviously everyone has far more money and time than me instead of living in front of a fantasy game i am going to a 5 * Hotel for dinner, drinks and Big Fat Cigar tonight all for the cost of a game!
