Was in yesterday picking up my dvd, and trading in my obsolete technology.

Asked about midnight opening (here in Belfast) - was told 'It will depend on how many units we get'

Anyway I'm 1002 and happy...

Out of interest who else ordered online with game on the 17th and has not heard anything or getting one from some where else.

Also how come they stopped taking pre-orders in store and can fulfill them all, have they made sure they satisfied all their shop customers and left what were left over for online pre-orders. Just seems odd no shortages in store.

Amazon order expected dates in account details

Salt pinch

They are well known for poor communication. I preordered on the 18th and doubt they will satisfy my order for launch.

I really hope I am wrong. Beers are on my if I get my Amazon pre order on Launch date

I personally feel that Amazon will be one of the best places to have a pre-order. They are huge when it comes to online retailing and i'm sure GEM will have allocated them a fair few consoles as they have a lot of clout in the industry. Remember as well that everything is relative and the amount of people who will have tried to pre-order through GAME in the first few days must be 10 fold compared to Amazon as buying online is still something a lot of people just don't do.

I think that their communication has been pretty decent considering and they haven't made any silly statements saying that you will get one at launch if you ordered before blah blah. All they have said is that orders made after 2nd November will almost certainly be completed in the New Year. Also don't forget that a lot of the early pre-orderers will be the folk with 4 or 5 units ordered and as they get one confirmed elsewhere (seeing as Game and Gameplay have confirmed some orders so far) then I expect that a few people will cancel their orders with say Amazon etc.

I'm taking the sensible option of viewing the console launch as a launch window which stretches between 2nd - 24th December. I'm hopeful that Amazon will be able to fulfil early orders (say the first week of pre-orders) within that timescale.

Indeed, but both of those consoles were in pretty plentiful supply and there wasn't the shock shortage that there is with the 360.

No doubt Amazon will get a good allocation. My pre order status say estimated delivery 2 days before the 360 is launched in the UK..........you get my point.

Yes they will get a good split. Yes Amazon is a great online retailer I have used them for years and have always been happy. I took the preorder with them as soon as I heard about it.

Just dont expect the expected delivery date and account pending details to be correct for preorders like this.

In my experience they rarely are.

Indeed, I agree with you there. I guess their size etc. leads them to have to use more automated systems to remain efficient and whilst the dates are fairly accurate for most things, in this situation I wouldn't read anything into them as they are just generic dates. As stated though i'm looking more at getting mine in the first few weeks not on launch day.

That said if Amazon get the stock it at launch then i'd expect them to turn it around quickly (again due to the size or their packing department) so that a large amount of orders are shipped each day.

Game now have stock updates on their website:

Premium;
Online: Stock will be very limited and only a proportion of online preorders will receive their console at launch. We can no longer accept new preorders. We will do our best to secure more stock and these will be offered to preorder customers first.

Instore: We hope to be able to fulfil all preorders before Christmas. We can no longer accept new preorders. We expect no free stock at launch. There may be small deliveries of stock across December.

Core:

Online: We currently expect to be able to fulfil all preorders at launch. We can no longer accept new preorders. We expect small amounts of free stock at launch. We expect small deliveries of stock across December.

for the premium pack- Game saying they will have no free units is not entirely true I feel- they will have a few...as they've introduced a bundle for around £600!!!! so for those desperate enough....it may be better value than ebay!

Hi,
I am getting a bit woried about the numbers on GAME receipts. I ordered on 19th August and looking at my receipt the Serial Number is 180416.
I am assured in-store that I am 5th on their list though.
Is this the correct number I am reading on my receipt ??

Hoping you can help.

I felt the same way. I ordered on 18th augaust and an reasonable confident of getting it in the first week or so of launch. I think I did that with my ps2 , orederd one from Dabs, then got an email saying they couldn't get it for launch day. So I switched to Amazon and they got it bang on.

Gives my rsi time to subside anyway!
