They are well known for poor communication. I preordered on the 18th and doubt they will satisfy my order for launch.
I really hope I am wrong. Beers are on my if I get my Amazon pre order on Launch date |
I personally feel that Amazon will be one of the best places to have a pre-order. They are huge when it comes to online retailing and i'm sure GEM will have allocated them a fair few consoles as they have a lot of clout in the industry. Remember as well that everything is relative and the amount of people who will have tried to pre-order through GAME in the first few days must be 10 fold compared to Amazon as buying online is still something a lot of people just don't do.
I think that their communication has been pretty decent considering and they haven't made any silly statements saying that you will get one at launch if you ordered before blah blah. All they have said is that orders made after 2nd November will almost certainly be completed in the New Year. Also don't forget that a lot of the early pre-orderers will be the folk with 4 or 5 units ordered and as they get one confirmed elsewhere (seeing as Game and Gameplay have confirmed some orders so far) then I expect that a few people will cancel their orders with say Amazon etc.
I'm taking the sensible option of viewing the console launch as a launch window which stretches between 2nd - 24th December. I'm hopeful that Amazon will be able to fulfil early orders (say the first week of pre-orders) within that timescale.
