Best/Cheapest rechargeable option

I need to get a rechargeable solution for an Xmas present. It needs to be for two controllers. I was looking at getting one official play and charge kit and then one extra battery. Are there any other options being cheaper or just better.

When I bought mine (same as above) I got them for £10 and £4 each but now it seems like £15 and £10. Does any one know of a cheaper site please ?

Rechargeable batteries are an excellent option, and far better value

+1 for rechargable batteries. I've used the same 3 sets for 3 or so years now!

i had the play and charge kits, and just switched to rechargeable batteries, they are a much better solution. small charger plugged into wall is much neater, plus you get a lot more gaming from a single charge. i always have a set fully charged ready to go and then just charge the dead ones when thye run out

as above, go with the batts dude

you get sick of playing with the controller plugged in 70% of the time with the P&C kit, and i can never seem to get a comfortable grip on the triggers with it plugged in

I think the Quick Charge kit by MS is a good solution, it's what I use. But if I was buying new now, I'd probably go for something like this, it seems to be elegant & convenient (they do a black one too):

hmv.com: games: Twin Charge Cradle: White (2009)

*BUY* Venom Twin Xbox 360 Rechargable Battery Pack Black - - Gaming Accessories - Superetrader - Sim Free Unlocked Mobile Phones & Accessories Store&

I've got that for my two black controllers, It's avaliable in white too.

Simple quick and affective and if one of them dies i just swap the battery and plug the one that needs recharging into the lead that is always plugged into a usb port on my PC.

I used the official play and charge kit for two years. The batteries power drastically decreases and I've went through 2 charging wires. Then I did a bit of research for rechargeable batteries. Sanyo Eneloops are largely thought of as one of the best and they literally last up to twice as long sometimes as the official battery packs. Less than £20 for a charger and 4 batteries on Amazon. Buy another 4 and have 4 constantly in the charger and 4 in your pads. Switch when you need to and you should always have at least 2 sets fully charged.

Thanks for the replies all. I would normally go with rechargeable battery's, but it's for an Xmas gift and I've been hinted at the rechargeable packs are whats wanted.

Before buying, are 3rd party packs as good / comparable to the officials ? I know the untold rule is to generally buy 1st party but if I can get two battery packs for cheaper than one official I will.

I only use official recharge packs and i have a quick charge kit and a play and charge kit the play and charge kit imo is just a quick stop and imo doesnt actually charge the battery just gives it some juice.

The quick charge kit is imo the best out there i would use the play and charge kit and 20mins later battery is dead i then put it in the quick charge kit and its still on charge hours later it always needs a good charge.
Im then good to go for days
quick charge kit all day long

Well I just have the plug and play kit, and I use to use rechargeable bats. But they are just annoying.

Was fairly cheap just to buy the wireless batery packs for £7 and just buy 3 of them, and you can be charging one whilst playing on 2 etc.

Always worked out for me +)

As a follow up (yes still not 100% on a single option), does anyone know the current cheapest place for a single official rechargeable battery pack ?. So long as its not pint colour is no issue.
