Help?

Hi,

I hope you can help I have recently just bought a HD ready tv, the problem is it doesn't have anywhere for me to plug my red, blue and green wires in, this means that I can't play in HD. It has 2 red, 2 white and one yellow port for my wires. Can anybody help ?

It would be much appreciated!

Re: Help?

Good point. If it has the hdmi port in the back of your 360 then you can just run the hmdi cable form the 360 to your tv

Re: Help?

Well if you have the hdmi socket you can use a hmdi lead instead of the AV cable and run it from your 360 to your tv. So you would not need to use the green red yellow ect cables just the one hdmi lead.

Re: Help?

I dont think they all come with the hdmi iirc. If you have the comp lead but have the hdmi port then you can by the hdmi lead. As long as your have the hdmi port.

Re: Help?

You could also use a VGA cable instead of HDMI (my preference everytime )

About £7 for a 2nd hand one at CEX.

VGA or HDMI should give you a better picture than component anyway.

Can you get a picture of the back of the TV?

I'm pretty sure that VGA and HDMI give a very similar picture - Having seen HDMI on a friends TV (same make as mine) I personally prefer my VGA set up but it all comes down to preference.

Check 2.6 in THIS THREAD

Whereabouts are you? Maybe one of us could lend you / show you what its like with a VGA cable?

Re: Help?

I honestly can't remember what standard component looked like on my TV - I can check later for you. I'm pretty sure that VGA is better than component otherwise I wouldn't have bothered changing.

I had the same problem that my old xbox didn't have a HDMI connection but when I got my new xbox with HDMI I still went out and got another VGA cable as I really do prefer it.

I've got VGA on my 2nd 360. It's roughly equivalent to component quality, but can be better or worse depending on how your TV handles it.

By comp you mean component, not composite I assume? The quality of connections is roughly:

HDMI > VGA/Component > RGB Scart > Composite

VGA is better for some people than component, but for some component is better than VGA. There is no hard and fast rule, it depends which TV you have and what your personal preference is.

The only sure way to find out is to try yourself.
