Do you get headaches from long gaming sessions?

There are some people that cant last 30 mins on a computer or playing a game so im curious as to how many games can only play for a short while before they get a headache or dont feel well

Re: Do you get headaches from long gaming sessions?

Don't often get headaches.
I do however feel sick/lightheaded if i go for a couple of hours without a break.
15mins per hour of play is the recommended AFAIK.

I think Prey was one of those games that "30mins" would make you feel unwell.
Walking walls etc.

I would have added a poll to this but apparently i cant decide and add the 6 options i was going to put in within the 2 mins it gives you

I must say though, i never get headaches from being on the computer or from very long gaming sessions. I only get headaches when im ill and its how i know that im gonna wake up the next day feeling crap

Re: Do you get headaches from long gaming sessions?

I dont normally get headaches from gaming. I use a computer all day at work also without any problems. I do use to get them when i had my gaming headset turned up but that was just beacuase it was loud. I known people get them from playing in the dark or very low lighting.

Re: Do you get headaches from long gaming sessions?

I only get headaches from lack of sleep. Finishing GoW2 at 0500 then being woken by the kids at 0700 is not nice.

On a side note, I have screaming backache this morning. For some reason the Rock Band drums do it to me every time I play them.

Re: Do you get headaches from long gaming sessions?

I never get headaches, thankfully, but I do occasionally have weird sleeps after a late night of gaming - strange dreams containing elements of the games I've played etc (Scarecrow at the moment...). Also, if I've been playing something that gets the adrenaline going, like COD MP, it takes me ages to relax and get to sleep.

Re: Do you get headaches from long gaming sessions?

If people are getting headaches from gaming the chances are they have not got their TV set up correctly , too bright, too much contrast etc , putting a strain on their eyes in turn giving them a bad head, what look's good to some people will look horrendous and distorted to other's.

I often notice this when i go to friends etc big 50" plasma and brightness set to 75 , most people like all the new technology of today but don't have the experience to cali them correctly

The longest session with just toilet breaks and to answer door for pizza was 16 hours when i first got my 360

Re: Do you get headaches from long gaming sessions?

Some people get used to it and can stand it, i can spend all day on the 360 or on the computer or at college on the computer it doesnt bother me at all - others just cant get used to it

@ Kav: That is quite funny (the dreams). I have no problem going to sleep after just playing MP on anything either

That sums me up perfectly

COD Online i just cant get to sleep after that, i have to watch a video or some tv to relax.

I dont get headaches only aches in my legs for sitting in the same position.
I can game all day and all night...and have done and not have any problems. Just lack of sleep and food

I have also had pretty weird dreams. Thankfully nothing from F.E.A.R or Deadspace but i have had dreams where i was walking round New York and would push the up on the D-Pad to bring up the New York Map like in COD

Re: Do you get headaches from long gaming sessions?

It depends on the game for me, normally I can go for hours but some games I just can't manage, and it tends to be those with fixed cameras - I just traded in Alone In The Dark because I just phyiscally can't play it, I find it disorientating when you're walking down a corridor away from the camera, then suddenly the camera will change so you're walking towards it and the controls get reversed - annoys the out of me.

I think it's why I've completly ignored RE5 as it's predecessors used the ssame system - it looks a stunningly beautiful game but if thats the camera it uses then no thanks.

Have also struggled with Blacksite in the past - I don't think it's a bad game but it's just too "brown", the textures are all too close to one another so it's sometime difficult to diffrentiate what's what on screen.

NFS ProStreet is the only other that springs to mind but thats down to it's shocking frame rate.

I suffer from headaches anyway, so I'm guaranteed to get a headache from playing for a long time.

Doesn't stop me though

Re: Do you get headaches from long gaming sessions?

Been suffering more and more recently with headaches and a bit of dizzyness when it comes to choppy frame rates. Batman gave me a headache last night, Gears and Gears 2 do it to some extent to. I notice it the most when switching from a smooth game to a lower frame rate.

Re: Do you get headaches from long gaming sessions?

Haha :D

I seem to encourage headaches when gaming when I'm playing a fast moving game that requires a lot of visual focus, say CoD4 multi - always running around, eyes peeled and scanning all over the screen looking for enemies...

Choppy framerates don't help either though, I agree with that.

I tend to wake up with a headache these days from either being on the 360 to late or the PC.

Really should come off about an hour before I go to bed.

Re: Do you get headaches from long gaming sessions?

I'm usually fine on the headache front but I downloaded and played Wolfenstein 3d the other day and I've never felt so ill from looking at a screen, not having the use of up and down was disconcerting enough, the game just made me rough.

I suffer more from a bursting head with repetitive music, Zuma's music is murder for that. I've always had a thing about repetitive music though, one of the main reasons pop music is such a killer to me.
