Great post, and I echo your comments.
Gaming has become alot more mainstream and accepted in recent years. Think about the people you know who 'game'. I bet you can think of quite a few people and I bet there's people from both sexes in there teens, 20s, 30's, 40's, 50's and beyond that you know enjoying games? Some are console gamers, some pc gamers, some are casual social gamers who enjoy wii motion games, singing and quiz like games? My point is that if you think about it ALOT of people game, many more than 5-10 years ago. Its not your stereotypical teenager locked away in his bedroom anymore. No, think about your friends and the people that you know. How many of them buy the latest games? (be them on the 360, ps3, wii, ds, psp, pc). You hear lots of people talking about the next big game, be it Killzone, Halo, COD, GOW, Bioshock, Wii sports resort. Theres always a real buzz when it comes to a new big release. These games have mass market appeal and sell alot of units and consoles. With this in mind it would be great to have a decent mainstream games show. One that could be more adult and feature reviews, previews, news on upcoming games, special features etc. I really think Production compaines are missing a real trick here because if done right a primetime gaming show could be huge!
