Re: Philips 360

All processing should be turned off on all brands of LCDs..
They can only do harm to the picture, not improve it..
Gaming needs as quick and no artifacts as possible when gaming..

Re: Philips 360

I would kill all processing, then turn on 1 by 1 and see if it actually does any improvement..

DNR is the biggest killer, Digital Noise Reduction, it smears the content, really bad..
Hope this helps..

Oh as for Dynamic Contrast, this is a cheat, it pushes Blacks to make whites whiter, and blacks blacker, but you will find that you have lost your grey scale in really dark scenes, this can be set to off too..

i am not going to even ask about dynamic color
ill turn every thing off even the light sensor
it only seems to make things darker

contrast 88
color 60
brightness 64
sharpness 5
tint warm

i don't know if i am still doing anything wrong though

Re: Philips 360

I am no Guru, but you may call me Lord 24 P

I have played enough with panels to make the best out of them.
As for your Panel settings, its a personal thing, I say if it looks good to you, who cares what others think??
I am against any artificial enhancer though, just makes things look worse IMO..

EDIT

contrast 88 fine
color 60 fine (for games, too much for Blu Rays and FTA or DVDs) mine is set to about 35, games about 65- 70 depends on the game.
brightness 64 about 40, remember, you are flooding out your blacks here.
sharpness 5 For games and Blu rays, set to as high as poss..
tint warm tint? hmm you must be in the US?

ok Lord 24 P

I have played enough with panels to make the best out of them.
i see what tv you have

As for your Panel settings, its a personal thing, I say if it looks good to you, who cares what others think??
i know but your opinions are interesting none the less

I am against any artificial enhancer though, just makes things look worse IMO..
that's why all this time you have been saying no to all those things

EDIT

contrast 88 fine
i always thought fine
although everything becomes more awesome at 100 but i think that's a bit too much

color 60 fine (for games, too much for Blu Rays and FTA or DVDs) mine is set to about 35, games about 65- 70 depends on the game.
i don't know what FTA is but ill remember the thing you said about dvds
i used color same in games and movies
65 is max i go otherwise it seems forced

brightness 64 about 40, remember, you are flooding out your blacks here.
ill try but it seems too dark if its anything below 50 in warm tint

sharpness 5 For games and Blu rays, set to as high as poss..
well my max goes 10
but if i put in 10 the edges seem sharpy or sth

tint warm tint? hmm you must be in the US?
well i don't know what you mean by that
since i don't live in the U.S.
i give tint warm since people say it looks original or sth
personally
i like normal better
and cool seems way bluish

FTA, free to air, meaning general television..
Tint, iI used to think that this was related to NTSC, but thats Hue I believe, hence why I said you probably live in the US re the Tint reference..
I have mine on cool, but its called color temp..

i just wanted to intersect between each of your sentences

i decided to keep tint normal
and brightness 50
40 is too low
but sharpness 10 is crazy man
how you max i can't imagine

Re: Philips 360

I have a Philips HDTV and although I totally agree that most picture processing should be switched off, the one that I do leave on is Pixel Plus. In my opinion it enhances the picture significantly and as long as the other modes are switched off then it doesn't add too much to the input lag.

I know Philips TVs don't have the best reputation for gaming due to input lag, but I have a 32PF9641D and it is absolutely fine. I knew from day one to turn off the various picture processing options though.

my tv has sth called perfect pixel hd instead of pixel plus i think
i keep it off
although it provides a better picture
looks fake if you ask me
makes things like jagged and more pointy than they need to be
so i keep it off
kinda like putting sharpness all the way through 10 and more

Re: Philips 360

Hmmmm, sharpness should be as low as it will go for HD, and perhaps for gaming 10/20%. Nobody should every recommend turning sharpness to maximum especially for HD.

THAT'S what i thought
i keep it at 6 and the reason i think the perfect pixel hd thing is fake is because if sharpness is below 5 turnig that setting on doesn't do anything
clearer picture what a bunch of ****

Apologies for having an opinion.

For the record enabling Pixel Plus (or Perfect Pixel) is not the same as turning the sharpness up to 10.

wow dude
i didn't mean it like that
for all we know the perfect pixel thing we each have could do different things
what i meant by that was in my tv at least
if you have sharpness below 5 and then turn on pixel plus nth happens
i know they are not the same
but it makes you think what pixel plus really does
