Need help with Vista and my Xbox 360

I have recently discovered the advantage of streaming videos from my laptop to my TV via the Xbox but have encountered an issue. After messing with both the console and laptop for well over three hours, I finally got them to see each other and tried a few videos to test it out, that's where the problem is.

Basically, the Xbox can see all the videos in my shared folder but will only play certain ones even though they are all the same video format. I currently have Bleach, Ghost Hunt and Spice & Wolf, of which it won't play Bleach. Initially I thought it was the Bleach files, but a friend of mine whom I gave the same episodes to has been streaming them on her Xbox just fine with no file conversion or anything, also using Vista Home Premium. All I can conclude is that I have a codec issue on the laptop because all our settings are identical.

Can anyone help!?

I'm using Vista Home Premium, newest Dashboard version, currently using Combined Community Codec Pack.

Yep, it's a codec issue.

Try installing the free and excellent VLC on the lappy as this comes with a few codecs, if that doesn't work, google is your friend

What do I Google though!? I tried Google several times and all I could find was people talking about file conversion, I have no idea where to even start.

If your streaming movies from your laptop to your xbox 360 then it should make no difference what codecs you have on the laptop, i'm using the same setup and dont have any streaming issues

but here's the link for VLC player incase

VLC media player - Open Source Multimedia Framework and Player

Google "FFDSHOW" for free codecs galore
