Unhappy Shooting - HEEELP!!!

Hi guys,

I seem to be having a problem shooting on Fifa 10, but can't find any tutorials on it - maybe someone could point me in the right direction or offer me advice?

I seem to be struggling on power - often my power bar goes toabout orange and i just "tickle" the ball to the keeper. When i often go for power, i put the ball high and wide into row Z!

Any advice on how to hit the ball low and hard? Should i press either of the analogue sticks a certain way after hitting the ball?

Thanks in advance.

BR

Re: Shooting - HEEELP!!!

For low and hard shots you can tap shoot button twice, or while the power bar is building up release and tap shoot again.

It is also improtant to try and work the ball onto your players favourite foot and at a decent angle to the goal.

Re: Shooting - HEEELP!!!

Use the finesse button as well when shooting (RB on my settings, either RB/RT on yours). If going for power use the power button in addition to the shoot button (LB on my settings, probably LT on yours).

Cheers for the assistance!

Which is the "power button"? I have LB for chip-shots, RB for finesse, but wasn't aware of another one...

If youre using the classic button layout (default I think) hold LT while shooting as it helps to control the height and direction of the shot as long as the power bar isnt in the red. To be honest the majority of my goals come from chipped shots (usually holding LT while quickly pressing X is usually good enough to score), its a cheap way to score but my scoring ability is rubbish

I thought the power button only effects free kicks, could be wrong though.

Think i'm going to fart about in the arena a bit and see what happens!

As for the power button in the FK - found that out by accident but nice feature!

If you shoot in the arena without holding LT and again while holding you'll see the difference

Change from Assisted to Semi shooting for a start.

Apologies if you have, but i find that's normally the issue.

Re: Shooting - HEEELP!!!

Cheers guys. Started using the LT button whilst shooting and i find a massive difference.

Also practised with the RB button (finesse), and managed to get this beauty with Arshavin :

Arsenal 3 - 0 MK Dons | EA SPORTS Football World

(I know its on Amateur and the teams are heavily biased - but i'm learning!! ;-) )

To be fair i can't see any difference using LT or LB using the classic and new alternate config. But i can see a slight difference using the RT button, but probably because there are running.

It's mentioned above.

If you are using the classic/standard button confguration it is LT; I have mine mapped to LB (can't remember if that's under the alternate configuration or a custom one though).

Yep, it definitely now works for me. You can get the power bar to a substantial amount with it held down and still hit accurate shots.

Sorry cheif, I did read the above, got confused when LT wasnt mentioned but changed to "Power Button" .. and it was rather early for me

LT is the skills move on mine ctrl config, Is this a bug or just something that works, Dont recall it being mentioned in any tutorial/instruction before, my mates have mentioned holding a button down or double tapping the shoot button, didnt know if these were figments of thier imagination though as doesnt seem to make a difference to my game hehe

It's not a bug, it was in FIFA 09 too.

The instructions/tutorial aren't the best....I only found it after deciding to try long range shots in the same manner as the 'power' free-kicks.

The double-tapping of the shoot button doesn't apply AFAIK to FIFA 09 or 10....IIRC it was a feature of PES but may be wrong (it's been a while since I've played it). Holding down the power button down willl just balloon the ball over the bar!

I'm not convinced at all about this "Power Button" I tried everything last night in the Arena, cant see any difference what so ever, unless I'm doing something completley stupid or pressing the wrong button, I think its all in your minds

I have LT for Skills button, and LB for Chip shot or whatever it it, where you press it and you lob keeper etc..

I've tried both using same power, or less, and get identical results

You all need counciling

What range were you trying your shots from?

I use the power button more when I'm outside the box. To experiment (try in a match/practice match not just in the arena), have a shot from say 25 yds holding just the shoot button until the bar gets to between the halfway and three-quarter mark. Now try the same with the shoot & power button held together.

Remember a lot of your success will also depend on the player, what foot he's using and his general body-shape when shooting.

EDIT: I've included some links to goals I have scored while using the 'made up' power button.

Hi, first things first, I just wanted to say thanks for the trouble you have gone through to reply, espesh the latest one, v kind of you

I've tried it from all distances, in the arena, I'll have a bash ingame though and I should have mentioned this before as its becime relevant now, but I was using my BAP in the arena, obviously I have legs that resemble those of a female.. but working on it. I'm trying to up his strength in shhoting but alot of them I'm working on are the put your foot through the ball and score outside the box, or volley.. I dont think I've volleyed the ball inside the box let alone outside haha

Thats probably the reason, as mentioned I'll give a go ingame.. tbh I was trying it last night in game and oftern drilled it accross the floor

I generally use Manual, but often change it as I know my mates use default *assisted* and they batter me when I play with manual, so I even out the playing field

Thanks again

EDIT : p.s. some fine goals there

I'm not too pretty at shooting myself, does anyone ever have those games where they constantly hit the post, it's like its coded into the game.

I think that argument could definitely be levelled at FIFA 09....not had much of a problem in 10.

I 'believe' it is which ever of the LB/LT button you use to do a chipped shot normally (config dependant). It think its called a 'driven' freekick which is about right. Low, hard and straight!

Just my 2p worth re the 'power' shot. I'm almost certain holding down the opposite button to above (LB in my case) during open play, hits the ball low and hard, and is especially effective from distance, not to say you will always score, but more likely to cause keeper to parry back towards your striker etc.

I find hitting shoot with no other buttons, nearly always results in the ball rising and being more floaty.

Player stats have a lot to do with it. Shot power, long shots and FK accuracy will all have a part to play

Depends heavily on which player is striking the ball. I've found Torres 'power' shot seems to work well as well as Rooney's compared to the spanish teams strikers who all seem to prefer 'finesse'. While Gillingham's own Oli prefers 'row z'.
