Stoked - Play & Help Thread

If the big air edition is going to be region free then by all means wait for it as it's only a month, but seeing as stoked just landed in the EU yesterday I have a feeling they'll hold back big air edition until at least feb or march in the EU to try and get some sales on the first one.

With that said, I'm playing Stoked at the moment and it is excellent. It's the snowboard equivalent of Skate, the control system is intricate and rewarding, the environments are expansive and challenging and the career mode opens up after you get to grips with the learning curve and opens up some really nice challenges where you need to be creative.

I'm loving this and I can only imagine how much better it will be once the mountains are populated with live players as the single and multiplayer are seamless, kinda like test drive unlimited.

Re: Stoked - More Snowboarding! (UK Release: TBA)

How does the career system work?

Played through for 2 hours, got 4 challenegs down on 3 mountains.

Not got any level ups / new gear yet. When does that happen?

I had forgotten all about this game, the word coming back on the American snowboarding forums wasn't too great at the time.

How does the game play, the physics in the video posted earlier looked like you could do big anti-gravity floaty ollies that looked too unrealistic.

Also, is there genuine kit in the game from snowboard companies?

I believe the kit is genuine.. although it seems to take forever to power up enough to get sponsered.

The physics are quite good to be honest. It does not look like there will be any SSX style tricks!

There are two styles that you can ride as .. either by "pre-winding" tricks, as you would in real life, or by going off a ramp without pre-wind and simply styling the trick - uber smooth stylee.

There are a good combo of left handed and right handed grabs - but as yet no Pro tricks - as my player is not good enough.

It does not appear that you can really link tricks - like in say amped 3... unless someone knows better?

The final thing - is nobody is playing it!! I have been no 1 in the weekly rankings on pretty much every challenge I have completed :-(. As such not bothered to test out multiplayer/live.

Re: Stoked - More Snowboarding! (UK Release: TBA)

Once you advance and beat pros in challenges, they teach you different moves and most of the grabs can be tweaked and boned. there's also some one footer grabs. I dont huck much really at all and I'm at 100% style so my grab list and special tricks might be different from a hucker. I have 2 custom boards that I won in a big air contest and another in a style contest involving mainly rails and funboxes.

most if not all the gear in the game is real, I have Nitro as my board sponsor, Oakley as my gear sponsor and accessories, i've yet to get custom bindings but they are in the game and you can adjust your bindings setup and angle which really has an effect on your riding style, as do the boards. Some suit the more stylish carving style and others suit the more wilder sort of park rider skate style.

This really needs more people online though as some of the best moments I've has is when there have been a lot of people playing.

You can also get a helicopters pilots license and hit those hard to reach spots without having to hike but I've not did that yet. I'll play this for a while as it's fun and challenging and it looks like there's a lot of playability in the game.

My gamertag is bramski888 if anyone is looking to go online with it.

Re: Stoked - More Snowboarding! (UK Release: TBA)

Looks like I'll be picking this one up then, Shaun Whites is OK but it's just good for a quick 10 minute blast IMO. We need a proper snowboarding game.

Something similar to Skate would be great, where you could just rip up the backcountry at your leisure.

Re: Stoked - Play & Help Thread

I have not found it that hard to get into.

It is like Skate 2, with the right stick used for the basic ollie, left for spinning/flipping and the shoulder buttons to execute left or right handed grabs. Beyond that, there are two styles to ride... either slow and chilled or pre wind (hucked I think its called)

I am almost pro now, with 60 fame points.

To be honest, I am a little bored... as it is far too repetitive, matching and beating pre-determined tricks. There are no other people on the slope, beyond the guys next to a pre-determined jump.

I don't find the environment that "lets go adventure" compared to Amp 3.

The trick selection is ok. But way too uninvolving during the first 5-10 hours of play.

Re: Stoked - Play & Help Thread

Enjoying this, it's a little slow paced, but still good fun. I had a nightmare beating the first pro challenge. I couldn't nail the FS 720, but built up a huge score on the tail ride section to make up for it.

Anyone want to get online and take 25 photos of each other for two of the achieves?

Almost finished this now. Took the opportunity to grab some of the online achieves today when the leaderboards reset.

This will obviously slip into obscurity, probably due to the late European release, but it is a nice little game. Great soundtrack too.
