Argh!!! Just wrote a long reply and then my browser screwed up... I'll play a bit longer and let you know if I think it's a defo buy'er, I think I'll be saying yup, get it! But will keep you updated.

Same button layout (pretty much) as COD, the default sensitivity seems to be ok but I might ramp it up as I get more used to it, I generally go up a notch or three in FPS's but feeling a bit groggy from nightshift still lol.

Oh and Billy Yeah it was Zavvi

re: Borderlands: Play & Help Thread

I've shot my first skag of the day and it felt gooood.

It's head just popped open in front of my eyes. Lubberly jubberly.

Some lovely distance focusing in this game, ammo is liberally scattered about but runs out quickly lol, shooting skag in the head is a nightmare.

The humour is pretty, well, me-ish, the graphics are really good, not seen any tearing or glitches in the land or anything. There's not much interaction with the environment, for instance anything on screen other than the pickups is pretty much just a standard, the day-night effects are pretty cool but.

Died after some big skag hit me wasn't too much of a pain in the arse though, the game just took some credits off me and put me back at the checkpoint post type thing. Can't wait to coop this.

I'll need to leave an ammo drop or something on the ground just lying there to check how long it takes to disappear, the blood is nice, the body parts are nice. The skag will attack the enemies too so it's not just everyone against you, NPC's will fight it out a bit too - a nice way to get 'free' ammo drops etc

re: Borderlands: Play & Help Thread

It's good, too many weapons to choose from not enough backpack space haha I've found if you sell weapons you can re-buty them back from vending machines, not sure if they will be available forever but they're still in the buy-back section (you can scroll through the vending machine sections using RB + LB) after about 15 mins of selling them. Think I'll be enjoying this one for a long time

*EDIT*

The buy-back thing either disappears after time or once you leave an area.

Lol not too sure about that like! I'd definitely recommend just playing a bit on SP for a while to get used to the layout of stuff, I think also when playing MP that the group of folks would be best doing a bit of mission stuff, then sorting EQ, then doing mission stuff, then sorting EQ etc.

I find that I'm stopping every now and then to sort out my weapons but as far as I'm aware the game doesn't pause on MP as it does in SP each time you go in the menus and I think it could be a bit nippy for the folks that are playing together to have to stop each and every time you pick up a new weapon. And there really are loads of weapons, its a mild pain in the arse to have to check the stats of each weapon against the other weapons in your inventory (currently holds 12 items) but that is the nature of the RPG beast I suppose. Loving this so far though, crapped myself a few times when really BIG skag come launchin themselves at you lol.

Be warned, Skag can jump very high. Sniping from a cliff doesn't guarantee safety hehe

Some pretty funny speechy bits from folks too

Mine arrived from Zavvi today as well. Can't fault that for speediness. Spent a couple of hours this evening on split sceen co-op. Really enjoying it so far.

Love the graphic style, love the loot heavy RPG elements. The shooter mechanics are very well done for a game of this type. It really does feel like a true hybrid of 2 genres. Going to have a blast on single player later. So far so good.

re: Borderlands: Play & Help Thread

Mine arrived this morning from Zavvi and I just had a question about it before I do some online co-op with mates this evening. Hopefully one of you guys will have the answer. After reading some reviews it makes it sound as though other players can join your game at any time. But surely there is a way of setting your game up as 'private' so that no-one can join right? Otherwise it's a horrible idea as I don't want others randomly joining my game. Any ideas guys? Or did I just get the wrong idea from some reviews I've read?

If you just want to do it as single player and even your friends can't join, there's a simple answer, set your Live status to showing as offline or just turn your modem off.

Not sure about a private co-op just for friends if that's what you mean.

You can set up a private match for friends only.

Anyone know whether Asda/Tesco will be selling this at around £30 on release day?? I'm selling Operation Flashpoint and wouldn't mind picking this up, as its seemingly getting some good reviews/comments.....

re: Borderlands: Play & Help Thread

This game is fantastic, it's so good getting new weapons, the stuff I've got now just makes all the other stuff pale into insignificance... As I'm sure the stuff I pick up tomorrow will to the stuff I'm using now!

The enemies you fight are a good mix, there's not a million different type of enemies (i.e. human/skag/wormy things) but there's a good mix of different types of the different enemies so it's not too boring to look at. And let's be honest, when you're using a sniper rifle that cuts the enemies in two who cares what the started off looking like? Lol.

It's great using explosives and seeing body parts rain down a good 5 seconds after impact. Oh how I've giggled with glee

It's got a good mix of being able to go in all guns blazing and doing a lot of damage without being overwhelmed (if you go the appropriate areas/missions) but still provides a good challenge. Can't wait for the coop!

For coop you can create a new character or use your existing one, and either search for people of similar levels or start a brand new game. For coop I'd recommend doing the first wee part of the game on your lonesome so you get the gist of what's happening and then going online and starting from the beginning with a new character so you don't have to worry too much about following the storyline/figuring out where you're going. This'll be the route I take purely because my main char is sitting at level 20 just now and I wouldn't want the enemies to either be too weak for my weapons or for the enemies to be too hard and start mauling lower level coop buddies. Hurry up Royal Mail

Nice one Rori. Always good to see a game pass the "2:53am Wednesday morning" test

Can't wait to get hold of this but I haven't pre-ordered so I'll have to shop around at the weekend .

re: Borderlands: Play & Help Thread

I can echo Rori's comments, I'm finding this a brilliant game. There's something about the way it plays that just feels right, the guns, the look, the sounds, the interface.

I'd been anticipating it so my hopes were high but so far it's exceeded those which doesn't happen often. Can't wait to get back from work for another blast. It seems to do exactly what it says on the tin which I find refreshing. For example if a mission says it's hard, I've found it genuinely hard so the difficulty for me at least seems spot on.

re: Borderlands: Play & Help Thread

This has sneaked up on the radar to a crescendo over the last few days. Sounds like a winner! Definitely sounds like I'll be spending my, what was, Forza 3 money!

A sneaky game to get in before the missus deems it to be a Christmas prezzy.

I read somewhere that the Single Player mode can be a bit of a soulless experience, can anyone vouch for this or (hopefully) deny?
