Question PGR4 or Forza?

Being an ex PS2 player, i used to enjoy the realism of GT - good graphics, good sound, excellently real car handling and great 2 player split screen.

I fancy the same for the 360 but which would give me the same as the PS2 Grand Tourismo... PGR4 or Forza?

Re: PGR4 or Forza?

Forza 2 is much more similar to GT, but why not download the demos off marketplace and give them both a go!

Forza 2 is definitely closer to GT than PGR4. Though the only thing I found with Forza was that after a while it started to get a bit tedious and the enjoyment had gone out of it whereas PGR4 is more "fun". Although the "Time v Kudos" challenges leave me cold there are plenty of other game variations within PGR4 that still makes it a cracking game.

Re: PGR4 or Forza?

If you like Gran Turismo you'll love Forza, I've played loads of racing games but nothing ever came close to GT until I played Forza 2.

If you want accurate handling, taking the perfect line, winning cars - then it's Forza all the way.

PGR is a good game, but it's very arcade; power slides and cars that pretty much cling to the track.

You can get PGR3 now for a couple of quid so maybe get that alongside Forza which is what I've done though PGR3 is staying in the box until Forza is finished which will take a long time as it's a massive game.

Re: PGR4 or Forza?

Forza 2 by a country mile. Not even close.

Forza2 is the best driving (sim biased) game to date and PGR4 is a huge dissapointment and in my opinion PGR3 is actually a much better game.

Re: PGR4 or Forza?

After battering forza since release, its now close on a month since i touched it.

Rubbish single player game, PGR is far better in this department.

Online i was hooked, for a short spell.
I soon became annoyed with the way the game 'lobby' works.

Join a lobby, wait a couple of laps for race to finish and everyone return. Then for no reason i could be kicked out.

I happen to beat someone in a competative race, come the end of race - i'm kicked out.

Too much power to the host in this game. They kick you if they dont like your name, if u beat them, if you touch them...

It just peed me off so much i put the game away for good.
I play games for fun.
Forza multiplayer could take a leaf out of the CoD4 system for multiplayer.
This is fun and enjoyable and doesnt get me in a bad mood.

Re: PGR4 or Forza?

Recent 360 magazine has PGR4 as a demo disk and a friend has lent me FORZA.

PGR4 looked promising with decent graphics but car handling dynamics i found very poor/arcade.

FORZA. Excellent car dynamics/handling. After a slowish start i can see this being a good game once the decent cars are won/brought.

Re: PGR4 or Forza?

To me this question is like 'what is better FIFA08 or PES 2008?'

Both from the same genre, but both play differently. I have both and play both.

If you have to choose one though, you've done the right thing in trying both, but the full PGR4 game is obviously better than the demo.

It's all down to personal preference mate.

Re: PGR4 or Forza?

I was a GT man on PS2, but I just didn't get on with Forza 2. I played PGR4, and I LOVE it. Best racing game apart from Burnout, its great!

Re: PGR4 or Forza?

The best thing you can do is download both demos to give you an idea, infact you can go one better and rent them both and give them a good going over to see what grabs you. Forza is without a doubt the more realistic driving game but can get very repetitive later in the the game.
