Upgrading

So how do you guys go about it?

I usually upgrade on the principle that you're trying to get your car as light as possible first and foremost but i'm not convinced that that's always the best policy in the Forza universe, so i wondered what other folks did otherwise i'll just keep repeating the same errors when i come to upgrading

Re: Upgrading

I tend to up the power and reduce weight first, but i usually go a bit mad and stick everything in. My 950bhp M5 is testament to that

Re: Upgrading

I'm not great at tuning (i let others in my racing club do that) but fwiw it depends if you are going to upgrade the car within its current class ie if its a B class car do you keep it in B or go up to A. If you are keeping it in B i always go down the lightweight and handling upgrades route so you can maximise cornering ability by adjusting the springs and roll (and downforce if applicable) or if the car is a low rated B try and get some better tyres. If going up to A, again i would put all the handling upgrades on, along with race tyres and downforce, then add on whatever power upgrades you can to keep in within the same class. This usually works for me on the majority of tracks but you will lose out and out speed on tracks like seabring et al

Re: Upgrading

I proceed directly to the Storefront usually and test a few of the most popular setups for what I am looking for. I have no idea about mechanics

Re: Upgrading

Depends on the track although I'm no expert by any means.

For Le Mans, max power is the way to go

For Sebring, Road Atlanta Full, Silvertone national and even Suzuka, more of a balance is required although HP still dominates.

Silvertone Full and International and maybe Suzuka require a careful balance but with more emphasis on grip and downforce.

Barcelona somewhere here

Mugello, Laguna, Tskuba are more grip tracks, so go for better tyres, downforce and weight reduction so the car can drive on the ceiling.

For the fantasy tracks I just don't care.

Further to that having the correct suspension settings can make a lot of difference, the race suspension as standard is too stiff, and needs softening for better road holding and grip.

Much depends on the driver as well, so like loads of grip some prefer a looser setup with more power.

Also whether your racing with tyre wear on or not, a max HP build will destroy tyres at Le Mans, but with it turned off like in the matchmaking your be fine.

Re: Upgrading

You probably need three separate built cars to compete at every track type, although you probably can get away with two.

Re: Upgrading

Back in Forza 2 I upgraded a Porshe 911 so much it was undriveable! As soon as you put the power down you were doing 360's all over the place. I stick to the quick upgade setting now
