Regarding the FOV trick...........

How does everyone have there cockpit setup? I still have mine as standard. i tried changing it to 62 degrees but in the Type-R its weird. Its certainly nicer to see more of the dash etc, and the wing mirrors, but i dont think it works in all the cars too well. Plus, i dont think the dashboards are rendered aswell when you change the view to 62 degrees???

Re: Regarding the FOV trick...........

BYF - I changed the cock-pit view to 75 degrees and FM3 has froze 6 times today. Now I've tried other games and they were fine ,so I thought it was a dodgy FM3 disc. But BYF your comment about locking up has got me thinking.Could it be this and if so can I just reset the view back to square one?

Forza Motorsport 3 Triple Screen is just awesome.
I always wanted to do this with Forza 2 but never did.
Havnt got it fully properly aligned yet but its just brill overtaking cars now and the sense of speed and beauty of the tracks are much better.

Awesome setup BR, do I gather now all the hype and bluster has gone and it's in your hands the game is selling itself on its own merits to you? Wish I had more disposable income and the space to afford such a setup, looks excellent already even without tweaking.

My concerns with the game from the very beginning were in what it was for doing to improve as a sim and how or if it would. As things became aparent during its announcement/development that was proving not to be the case. The 8 cars issue wasnt an improvement and lack of weather or other factors that would have taken the franchise beyond what FM2 was as we know did not happen. Likewise AI may still be a bit suspect and in many areas FM3 hasnt really changed or improved much over FM2, well not in a way that really moves the racing sim genre forward on a console.

What is a good thing is that what IS in the game and from FM2 just works so well and the game does create a fun experience particularly as Im fortunate enough to experience it at its best and with the Fanatec wheel.

Suzuka Grid From 3 Of The Different Views:

The triple screens isnt just a gimmick, really it improves the excitment of the game particulary overtaking around the outside of cars watching them wiz past and I have to say even on really early playtesting of the F430 on Suzuka it has to rate as one of my most satisfying suprises ever in gaming.

Thanks for the kind comments:
Dont forget the compo at our little site on gtforums.

Re: Regarding the FOV trick...........

24" iiyama Prolite E2407HDS good price @ £180 if you shop around.
No dimming issues with these being off centre and have a 0.5 inch thin border/bezel

The three screens are 63" across with seating about 30" back so fills the full peripheral vision

Re: Regarding the FOV trick...........

probably a stupid question...

do you need 3 consoles and 3 copies of the game to do this?

looks amazing if you have the cash and space for it.

Re: Regarding the FOV trick...........

Indeed you do guys and although shocking at first, its not that bad because:

If you were wanting to play a new highly graphical game on PC with 3 screens. Take SHIFT as an example you would likely need to spend even more on hardware to run that at 60FPS, needing a fast PC fast GFX and a Triplehead 2 Go adapter with of course 3 screens. The price of that PC hardware would far exceed the price of a couple of 2nd hand X360s and give it time some more pre owned FM3 games. As for monitors/screens these can be had for well under £100 depending on brand and size.

I could if I wanted play older games like i-racing in triple screens as they are not that demanding or indeed multitask with the 3 screens with a PC.
Weird thing is the most expensive component in my setup and buy far costing nearly £500 is actually the Cobra seat I sit in.

Its all part of an racing cockpit im wanting to make.
