Re: Postal strike for the 22nd!!

I guessed this was going to happen.
Cancelled my order with Game, then re-ordered it, and chose express delivery. Which Game states will not be affected by the strike. Fingers crossed.

Re: Postal strike for the 22nd!!

Just had a phone call from Game - 5 minutes after emailing them asking about the strike. Official word from the guy I spoke with (Chris) is this:

"We are planning on shipping earlier than normal in the hope of circumventing the strike."

To me that means shipping on the Monday/Tuesday, delivery on the Tuesday/Wednesday.

Yeah if they are shipping early this week then I imagine they have been gearing up for the strike for a while and possibly just changed the policy. Let us know if it arrives tomorrow =)

I recon if they had Forza in stock they would ship it, what with the stike and leaked version.

Just depends when they get it in stock.

There have been no strikes up here yet its just now that it is a national strike. Anyway the news is reporting it will be a staggered strike with no collection on thursday and delivers should still take place before they strike on friday.

Re: Postal strike for the 22nd!!

So what are people's plans? I have a LTD edition on order at shopto, I'd guess they would still be posting before the strike hits, so no panic. Anyone going for the £1.99 courier option (UK Mail), I've no idea what they are like.

I'm sort of forced to stick with my order with game as i am using some reward points for money off and if i cancel i lose the points. I'm hoping they will post early for wednesday delivery.

Give them a call (01256 784000 - avoid the 0870 :D), I have remade my order to include Express Delivery (extra £5 but according to their site is guaranteed not to be affected), and in doing so I got to use an extra £5 off my reward card so offset the increase in postage costs. They can't use your reward points to make the order over the phone so what they will do is cancel your order and recredit your reward card with the money you were going to be using so you can then redo it online.

Edit: According to Game's Twitter page, points go back on the card within 24 hours.

Saying that my Uncharted 2 order has just dispatched from shopto with the courier service so i will have that tomorrow defintley which is making me thinking of changing.

Re: Postal strike for the 22nd!!

I think the best option is with Shopto, with the next day del option.

Cos of the fiasco with FIFA, the postal strikes and the leaked version they are gonna ship it out as soon as they get it delivered to them.

And they will update the status on twitter, AND you get a SMS when its shipped.

They did this with Op Flash, and most peopel got it Wednesday.

Taken form the Game site. Hope this helps.

IMPORTANT: There may be a delay to 1st and 2nd class deliveries due to recent Royal Mail industrial action affecting parts of the country.

To guarantee your order is delivered within 1 business day we recommend you use GAME's Express Delivery option which is completely unaffected by the strike action.

Is Express delivery an extra £5?

Not much for peace of mind. :P

Yeah extra £5. Opted for it myself, I'm not sure who they use, whether it's Special Delivery (from my understanding of the strikes, any post sent via a "guaranteed delivery" service will indeed arrive as normal - ParcelForce vans I would assume for actual delivery) or a courier - might phone them after it gets dispatched and ask if they don't come out and say themselves.
