Guitar Hero 5

Quote:
Activision's Guitar Hero 5, set to release this fall on the Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, and Wii, has been hiding out in the back, watching what everyone else is doing. And now, with a plan of attack in mind, it comes at you with a whole bunch of cool new features and tracks.

Game Hunters reveals that a new Fest mode lets players battle each other at home or online for top scores. Four can play at home and eight can play online in this competitive mode that uses momentum points. Miss a note in competition and lose momentum. You must correctly hit the next 20 notes to regain it. I can see myself losing this mode every time!

As you may have heard, Party Play lets people join in songs mid-game as well as switch instruments and difficulty levels. And there will be plenty of songs to party to, says project director Brian Bright. “We have a lot of new indie artists as well and Iron Maiden as more classic rock or heavy metal.”

Here's some track highlights:

* Tom Petty (Runnin Down a Dream)
* White Stripes (Blue Orchid)
* Bob Dylan (All Along The Watchtower)
* The Rolling Stones (Sympathy for the Devil)
* Santana (No One To Depend On)
* Johnny Cash (Ring of Fire)
* Kings of Leon (Sex on Fire)
Destructoid - Guitar Hero 5: new modes and tracks revealed

Those are some great songs, hope they translate well to the game.

Re: Guitar Hero 5

some good songs there. I've heard a rumour of A-Punk by Vampire Weekend being in it too. Ive always thought that would be fun to play although i'd prefer it in rock band.

How's the white stripes gonna work though. There's only 2 of em.

any one want to take bets on the maiden track being run to the hills

Taken from the Eurogamer article on the game...

All of the downloadable content for Guitar Hero World Tour will be compatible, and Activision will even upgrade the old game to support the upgrades and enhancements in Guitar Hero 5.

Re: Guitar Hero 5

obviously i'll be buying this but i am not excited by this at all. as for dlc compatibilty, too little too late IMO. since the bulk of the top tunes in this series are reserved for disc based games i would prefer to be able to tranfer ghwt tracks to gh5. In fact what would be most exciting is if GH5 enable transfer of not just GHWT on disc songs but also the upcoming GH greates hits and the metallica disc. I'd pay a nominal license fee if needed similar to the RB1 transfer fee. This would give what most people want which is a unified platform for the gh games without the need fro constant disc swapping. Anyway its very unlikley.

You say that, but as GH: M is compatible you would have thought that a patch to make the rest compatible was easy and forthcoming...

Apparently not though....

Guitar Hero World Tour won't receive Lips mic support

But this is going forward, not backwards, so of course GH5 will work with the Lips mics (just as I would expect GH:GH and GH:VH to do so).

That GH:WT doesn't work with them is down to laziness on Neversoft's part.

Agreed, but it's still poor that there's no backwards compatibliity patch for the rest of the GH series.

Good list of bands/artists, they just need to make sure that the songs they put on the disk are equally as impressive.

Arctic Monkeys.

I was begining to worry they wont let their songs be used. There not in singstar or lips or anything so this can only be good news.

Hopefuly RB has managed to licence them too.

The list of bands looks pretty good. Lets just hope they pick the right songs.

Re: Guitar Hero 5

I really don't think we'd be having Queen songs included in so many different GH titles if they were planning on a full release, there was a rumour for a Jimi Hendrix game a little while back but there obviously wasn't enough material to warrant a full game, so they just went the DLC route.

What other titles are Queen included in?

GH:WT DLC - We Are The Champions & Fat Bottom Girls

GH5 - Queen & David Bowie

GH:Hits - Killer Queen

GH:M - Stone Cold Crazy

Its hardly alot considering they had 20 albums released, also Metallica had a full album as DLC before GH:M was announced.

I'm just hoping its true.

Any links to the actual roumers?

Re: Guitar Hero 5

hell yeah You've just made my night thanks mate.

That will be awesome on drums although its gonna be tough. The intro sounds pretty insane followed by 16th(?) notes on the hi-hat most of the way through (yes I have just listened to it!) argh! I just wish it was in RB

Better get practising my 16th notes in time for september. I will actually cry if i cant pass it.
