Just a friendly point if you dont watch Hot UK Deals or look in the Gaming Bargains section very often - Argos have reduced the wired Guitar Hero guitar from £49.99 to £9.99 - it's a hot deal And I picked mine up this morning. Believe this is the "Explorer" model so works with all GH and Rock Band games.

Reserved one for collecton tomorrow

I'm a complete GH n00b. Any recommendations on which of the games to start with?

I figure that if I don't take to it, at that price I can afford to ebay the guitar and get back at least what I paid for it....

I picked this up last night but the whammy bar seems quite unresponsive. Is this just a design thing with this guitar or is it likely to be faulty? Just curious as to whether to try and replace it.

I like it tho so i've reserved another in case i should decide to replace it.

Any thoughts on build quality/known issues?

Agreed. The whammy bar on the X-plorer from the GH2 bundle I owned was very poor.

The xplorer whammy bat also has a nasty habit of going limp so it just falls vertically when not being held eventually. Apart from that though the strum and buttons are great.

Picked myself one up as a spare for my spare

@ 9.99 why not.
At least if my 2 GH:WT ones go wrong ill have this around.

As many have said above. The whammy on the Xplorer will in time just dangle down. Not known anyone who got the the GH2 pack and not had the problem with it, but for a tenner it's a great deal for a spare.

Whammy sucks on the one I got today. Taking it back tomorrow due to a manky strum bar.

Some well placed elastic bands will rectify a limp whammy bar on the Xplorer. Some people also use neoprene O rings.

Well my replacement guitar is so much better, atleast as good as my Les Pauls. Plus the Whammy is nice and stiff.

I like this guitar, the fret buttons are nice and the strum bar feels a little better compared to my GH:WT one. I can see that the whammy bay will droop down eventually but im sure some kind of rubber grommet will sort that.
Only thing I had an issue with was a tinnitus like noise through the headset while using it, ill try it again tonight, hope it goes as id have to replace it if not.

Id still probably use the wireless just because its easier to move around on long sessions but the explorer makes a great backup. If the ringing noise through the headset is gone next time I try it ill keep it and sell my spare wireless one to a mate. I don't really need 3 of them.

I was also a GH newbie but I bought this guitar on Monday and love it, but then again I've never used any of the other guitars to compare it to.
