GHWT BiB, Is it worth the price tag?

I am considering getting GHWT BiB after not getting the game and guitar from morrisons

the cheapest place at the moment is HMV @ £130 but is it worth that price tag or not

i made a thread about cheapest price (Guitar Hero World Tour - 360, Cheapest Where Please?)

this is to ask about is it worth it?

I only play on drums, as it's closer to the real thing and I think the GHWT drumming experience might actually help if I moved onto playing drums for real.

Great fun and pretty easy to pick up IMHO. The key thing is to see if you like the song list or the DLC. I like Metallica and I love the Death Magnetic DLC - I've not even tried the Guitar on it yet. You can't beat the feeling of smashing those cymbals. TBH, if the drums were sold on their own, I would have been happy just to get those. The RB2 drums might show up soon, so you could so consider getting them.

Oh and play with a pair of headphone and it's even better.

Re: GHWT BiB, Is it worth the price tag?

Thanks,

im cool with my surround soundi like quite a lot of the GHWT songs so the drums to them could be fun as i have only played a select few on guitar

are the RB2 drums any good and do you mean they are coming out seperately?

Yeah, all the rock band kit is sold separately as well a a full pack - so you could buy just RB2 drums and take your pick of the GHWT and RB2 game discs. You'd need to buy the cymbal add-ons for the RB2 drums. Have a google, there's a few drum comparison reviews knocking about and there's a RB2 Instruments thread over in the RB2 sub-forum.

I got GHWT after getting fed up with waiting for the Rb2 drums and I'm happy with them, they play pretty well in RB2 as well.

Re: GHWT BiB, Is it worth the price tag?

site now says 124.99

i believe i can just go apply for the student discount using my college card is that right?

if so i can go to HMV and get GHWT BiB for

124.99/10 = 12.499 (10% of 124.99) 124.99-12.499 = £112.491 which is not bad at all

just the above couple of questions and i will see into it, might go see if there are any in my HMV today - though knowing my luck it will close or something

Any photo student ID. It's hard to get a student card without buying something when you ask for it, and I'm guessing it is more expensive instore than online.

Its a bit of a novelty, but fun if you've got 2+ people playing together.

Re: GHWT BiB, Is it worth the price tag?

I've thought about this many times but always put if off for a couple of reasons. I haven't really got the space to store it when not in use, generally play games on my own (girlfriend will join in if its GH:WT or LoR), its very expensive (basically price of 3 good games) and I'm also worried about the reliability of drums and guitar (touch wood, the guitar I got with LoR on the HMV £35 deal has been fine so far!)

Unfortunately there is very little chance of either the RB or GHWT drum kits being anything other than problematic in the long term. The kits are built too cheap and will always have issues unless they release a premium kit like the ION's which are a nice budget level entry compared to converting a electronic kit. The other option of course would be to build a custom set and butcher the controllers from a faulty drum set.

so theres not gonna be any refinement of them?

is it just luck of the draw whether you get good ones?

They've already done refinements, unfortunately it doesn't matter how much you polish a turd, it's still a turd! The components needed to make the kits last are just not cheap enough to make it into a mass market product it seems.

There is a chance you'll get a "good" set but unless you play rarely they'll all suffer sensor failures sooner or later.
