Rock Band
For anyone familiar with the premise of Guitar Hero, you should be already well attuned to Rock Band and what it has to offer, but this time, multiply it by four. As well as offering the chance to be the guitar hero, you are able to play with three others to forge your own true ‘band’ experience, incorporating both lead and bass guitar, vocals, and drums. Play alongside one another to achieve the full band experience, performing a variety of master tracks and recordings of popular rock songs from over the years. Of course, you could play the game solo, and master the individual sections of the band. I have listed a number of pages featuring information about the game, and its variety of modes, including

Band World Tour mode – The games’ primary multiplayer mode, where players combine their efforts in a bid to win fans, money and gain global success, just like a real rock band, by touring the world.
Solo Tour modes – Single player mode (similar to that of Guitar hero) but this time featuring Microphone and Drum sections (there is no single player mode for bass)
Solo Quickplay – Play any choice of song unlocked or downloaded in a quick play mode.
Tug of War – Two player versus mode where players play sections of songs to see who can perfom the best during their sections of the song (Can be played local or over the internet).
Score Duel – Two player versus where players play a song in its entirity to see who performs the best over the entire song (Can be played local or over the internet).
Band Quickplay – Similar to Band World Tour, where 2-4 members of the band are able to play any unlocked/downloaded song, either off or online (Can be played local or over the internet)
Tutorial Mode – Where Gamers learn the basics of how to play Rock Band.
Practice Mode – where various songs can be played at certain speeds (except for Microphone), during selected sections, to practice for that all important World Tour.

Instruments

All previous instruments designed for Rock Band will work with Rock Band 2. Also, new and improved instruments are being produced, which are claimed to be more relaible and quieter. These include a new Fender Guitar and Drum Kit. Major improvements to the drum kit are that its pads are now velocity sensitive (like GH:WT's) and they are reported to be 'quieter' and provide more bounce. It has also been confirmed that all instruments from the titles Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero : World Tour and Rock Revolution will be cross compatible with one another on their respective platform. Compatability with other or older games are at this stage unknown.

Improved Fender guitar (wireless)

The new Guitar Controller features
- Redesigned Colour scheme
- Less "Squishy" strum bar
- Less "Clicky" buttons
- Built in microphone for auto calibration

Improved Rock Band Drum Kit (wireless)

The Drum kit will feature
- Expansion slots for separately sold cymbals
- Velocity Sensitive pads
- Soft and bouncy pads
- metal-reinforced pedal

Brand New, Limited Edition Ion Wireless Drum Kit for use with Rock Band

The limited edition kit will feature
- Fully adjustable frame and pads
- Velocity Sensitive pads
- Rubber covered pads
- Can be used as 'actual' electronic drum kit

These drums will work with both the Rock band and Guitar Hero series

The Microphone from Rock Band, Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero World Tour or any other standard usb mic ('Get on da Mic' etc) will work with the game. However, the Lips microphones have been confirmed as not being compatible with the game out of the box. A patch may be issed to fix this, however this will be at the developers cost.

Re: Rock Band FAQ

The songs of Rock Band

This Thread started life as a deliciously simple place to learn what tunes were available on disc in each rock band game, as well as the oodles of yummy DLC we are given on a weekly basis.

However, since the series has BOOMED with various incarnations and well over 2000 songs, this list is far too difficult to maintain.

The best place to obtain such information is over on the official Rock Band pages, or via the wiki links provided. Apologies if these are blocked for those in work etc, but there are far too many to list on here, and my old list is outdated substantially.

Rock Band official website song details

Rock Band Wiki page, with info about the game, as well as Soundtrack for each disc and DLC
