Premium or Value edition

The kids want the Beatles Rock Band for Christmas. I notice that there are two versions a Premium which is about £180 and a Value for £110.

What exactly is the difference between the versions , and also can they use the instruments with other Rock band games?

Thanks

Mike

Go for the Premium version from HMV.com

hmv.com: games: Beatles: Rock Band: Limited Edition Bundle (2009)

£120 delivered or £140 in-store.

All instruments can be used on RB games (as well as Guitar Hero games).

The drums are much better in the premium version, they are the RB2 drums rather than the RB1 drums that come with the value version.

Re: Premium or Value edition

The guitar in the premium edition is also the wireless RB2 version with a different design...it's worth getting this for the auto calibration.

Re: Premium or Value edition

If you are a huge Beatles fan (like me) I would definately suggest to go for the Premium.
Also if you don't mind paying an extra £3 then go to

The Beatles Rock Band - Limited Edition Premium Bundle (Xbox 360): Amazon.co.uk: PC & Video Games

And it's in stock

Re: Premium or Value edition

Thanks for the links and the advice guys. Looks like it will be the premium at that price. I was just a little worried that after spending all that cash they would get bored of it and not use the instruments again.

Thanks again

Mike

Re: Premium or Value edition

If you're worried about them getting bored, you might be as well picking up copy of RB2 as well (especially as you've save yourself a load of money now with all the deals pointed out for the premium edition on here).

I love Beatles RB, but to me as it's just The Beatles, there's more chance of them getting bored, at least if they have RB2 there's much more variety of music, with more added every week, so much less likelihood of getting bored.

Re: Premium or Value edition

Might be worth pointing out you only get one guitar in either bundle, so you may want to hunt down another guitar if you've got a few kids.

Re: Premium or Value edition

not sure how old your kids are, but the Hofner bass in the limited edition pack is quite big - it has a very long neck.

I personally love RB:TB, and like instruments to be wireless, but overall I really don't like the Hofner bass. You might find that kids will get along better with a Guitar Hero guitar as ther are much smaller and easier to use.

I am in the process of sending my RB:TB back as both the drums and the bass have failed very quickly. The build quality seems poor to me, but I may have just got unlucky as I haven't seen too many people say they have had problems on here.

Re: Premium or Value edition

They are 10 and 13 so I don't think size is too much of an issue.

I'm a little confused now, can you use guitar heroe instruments with rock band then?

Sorry if these questions seem dumb but it's not a genre of game I have tried before.

I'm 44 and I find the Hofner too big

The RB and GH instruments are all pretty much interchangable. I much prefer the GH4 guitar than the RB Beatles Hofner.

Re: Premium or Value edition

I've just noticed this on Argos Buy Rockband Band in a Box - Xbox 360. at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for .

Does the bit about needing software to work mean get the game as well? Also if I read it correctly then this set is compatible with Rockbands 1 and 2

I know its not what I was originally asking after but money is tight so trying to get the balance right between price and enjoyment.

Thanks again

Mike

Hi Mike,

In answer to your questions...

This is the original Rock Band Band in a Box; all the instruments are wired.

You have to buy either the Rock Band or Rock Band 2 games separately. It works with both games fine.

Hope this helps,

Steve

Re: Premium or Value edition

Thanks. kids being kids today told me it doesn't matter if it's the beatles or not . This may be a better option if they are wired as less batteries to get. Any idea how long the wires are as I can't find any info on it.

I've since found the same cheaper on amazon with £10 off if I order the first rock band so that is probably the way I am going.

Off the top of my head, haven't actually measured, I'd say at least 4-5ft.
