RUMOR: The Who: Rock Band in Development
Written Tuesday, October 27, 2009 by James Parkin

In a recent conversation, Roger Daltrey, lead singer for The Who, gave the following response when The Beatles: Rock Band was brought up:

Q:The Beatles are the latest band to be featured in a video game, “The Beatles: Rock Band.”

A:The game, yeah, yeah, they’re going to be doing a Who one next year. There is one planned. (The idea) is fabulous. Anything that gets non-musical people interested in music is wonderful. In my opinion, music is our last true great freedom. They can burn our books, they can burn our paintings, but they can’t stop us singing and making music.

So, either Mr. Daltrey's blowing smoke, or The Who: Rock Band could actually be in the works.

What do you think? Would you buy/play a version of Rock Band based around the journey of The Who?

So what do you guys reckon? An old wrinkly rocker getting confused about the already released track pack or is RB:TW the next deviation from the RB product model?

would be a bit pointless seen as all their best stuff is already available.
seems to be a pattern here,
first u2, then queen, now the who...
just how many band games are planned?!!!

Re: The Who RB in development??

HMX are either planning an invasion of band themed games or (more likely) they are releasing track packs for these bands. The bands get asked to appear in a track pack but their ego hears, "wanna do an excluive beatles style game" so thats what they tell the press.

I would even go so far as to say that any who/queen/green day/pearl jam/U2 track pack that is realeased, would feature the majority of songs that are already released with maybe 6 (probably a few more in green day or U2's case) new songs that are disc exculsive for 90 days before being available as DLC ala metal and country track packs.

Considering it took them 18 months to develop and release the beatles RB, how are HMX going to find the time to produce not 1 but 5 band specific games (have i missed any?) next year as well as (the not yet announced but widely speculated) RB3. Answer- the're not. track packs FTW.

Re: The Who RB in development??

I forgot to add to my original post that I too think this will be just another track pack.
