Rockband coming to iPhone

Looks cool!

Rock Band for iPhone Looks Just Like the Real Thing, Minus the Plastic Instruments - Iphone rock band - Gizmodo

Quote:
Watch your back, Tap Tap Revenge: Rock Band is coming for the iPhone, and it looks slick as hell. And as a bonus, this is one version of Rock Band that won't clutter your living room up with toy guitars.

Mashable got a chance to play around with Rock Band for iPhone, and they loved it:

Don't be fooled by impostors, Rock Band for iPhone is legit. It may have taken a year to build, but the mobile version matches everything you've come to love about the original, right down to the awesome graphics and the ability to hear mistakes. Of course, you're playing on your iPhone, so you'll use your fingers to tap to the rhythms of four different instruments.

The app comes with 15 songs – familiar tracks from past and present – with 5 additional songs that you can unlock as you complete the World Tour, as well as options to buy more. The game supports single-player game play, multi-player mode over Bluetooth, and Facebook Connect integration for inviting friends to play.

I'll admit, playing multiplayer Rock Band over Bluetooth on a bunch of phones sounds like a pretty kickass way to annoy the driver during a road trip. Look for this to hit the app store in the next few weeks for a yet-to-be-disclosed price, which, based on EA's other top-tier iPhone games, will probably be $10.

Re: Rockband coming to iPhone

if you dont have an iphone/ipod touch i would really recommend getting one as its my favourite gadget. Its got a ton of cheap games and a fantastic web browser (oh it plays musc too), i use it every day as its more convenient than swiching my pc on when i want to check my mail.

Anyway it'll be intersting to see how much they will charge for this as the tracklist is pretty big for an iphone game. i'll probably get it so long as the price isnt crazy

Yeah iPhones are great. Currently writing this on one now. I'm expecting Rock Band for the iPhone to be £5.99 like most high profile EA games. Not a bad price when you consider all the features like Bluetooth multiplayer and even better when you consider the price of the PSP version which was single player only.

Re: Rockband coming to iPhone

if it is just £5.99 then that is cheap for the number of songs. when i first heard of this game i was expecting a similar deal to the PSN rockband which i think is £3.50 with just a few songs (unlike the umd release which has much more songs).

Re: Rockband coming to iPhone

Are they able to do this cheap because the licences are already paid for for other versions of RB?

If not, as its a different format, I am a little suprised and it would beg the question why they can't do some DLC cheaper.

Re: Rockband coming to iPhone

had a go on this, its actually very good. Not as smooth as it should be which can effect timing.

But i'm on 3G, i imagine 3Gs will be smoother.

Love drumming.

For singing you still press buttons, would have though it could use the mic.

Can buy extra songs in game has World tour mode, and achevements.

Well someone's broken it, probably wanted all the achievements, so they've got a robot to play it:

yeah i caved in and bought one. Still I held out for a few months which is pretty impressive for me.

Whats this like? Is it worth the money bearing in mind i will probably only use it on saturdays at work and when i go away. Seems little point playing it at home when i can fire up the xbox.

There's a free "Lite" version of the game on the App Store, which contains one song (I think it's Cherub Rock), which should give you a pretty good idea of what the game is like.

You've reminded me that I must download the free DLC that was released the other week.

When did you last play it a 3G mate? As the last update to the app made it a lot smoother on my 3G.

I play it on an ipod touch and think it's ace :-) Some songs can be really fun to play, but HO/PO's are tricky! Obviously it's better on console, but my xbox has (it's second) RRoD at the mo, so I needed an RB fix.

Dont see the point of HO/POs though seeing as you dont have to strum anyway!!

Nice one mate

I think the idea of the HO/PO's is to slide your thumb across them, so you tap the first note as normal and then slide the rest. At least that's how I play it!

I thought we had a discussion about this!! I was gonna post when I got the game last year but forgot!!

I really like it, much better than any other incarnation out there (tap tap etc) and using real licences etc and the rock band 'feel' is a good thing! I really enjoy it, and the mrs LOVES it!!

of course its far better playing the real thing, but as for sitting on a train with some headphones, listening to your fave tracks has never been so fun!!!
