Since the bass and drum hardware in the Beatles bundle are basically RB2 instruments with a Beatles makeover, they will work just fine with GH5. The mic is the exact same one that is available in the stardard RB1 bundle and will obviously work without issue.

Bear in mind though that in GH5 the drumkit utilizes 5 notes (3 pads and 2 symbols) whereas the Rb drums only have 4.
The software should recognize and adjust accordingly

This is a good thing as playing the drums using 4 lanes is much easier and less intimidating. Also, the GHWT kit sucks anyway.

Too true. Loud, rubbish foot pedal, sensitivity often needs calibrating, wobbly frame and they're prone breaking (in my experience anyway)

I've got both the RB 4 pad drum kit and the GHWT drum kit. If I had to get rid of one, it would defintely be the Rock band one. ..

personal preference i suppose...

The RB1 kit isn't much cop granted, but it's still far superior, in terms of the overall build quality, to the GH kit.

The RB2 wireless kit (which is the same as the one in the Beatles bundle), is however, significantly better than both of them.

But unfortunately only available as part of the Beatles bundle over here, unlike in the US

Yep, I ended up importing it (which is something I don't regret for one second). It's a real shame that MTV and Harmonix have not got their act together on this. The improvement over the RB1 kit is simply astonishing.

Yeah, I was referencing the Beatles RB drum kit. I believe there has been an improvement on the sound dampening on the Beatles kit over RB2 but I think that's it. I was amazed by the sensitivity of them, all while not registering any double hits. The GH kit is a calibration nightmare. I kept having to go back to the PC software to adjust it as it was either too sensitive or over sensitive and registering double hits. Having the Beatles kit wireless is really nice too

Re: beatles rock band instruments in GH5

I am a big fan of the GHWT drum kit. Being a (albeit beginner!) real drummer, I appreciate the 5th pad for the ride/crash in certain songs - like Sultans of Swing.

BUT, I'm seriously considering trading the kit in today and getting the Beatles set. I really want that Hofner bass and the improvements in the drum kit hardware (better foot pedal, quieter) is making me consider it - even if IMO the Beatles kit looks terrible close up.

Anyways, my question is - how much does only having the 4 pads take away from songs in GH games (got them all)?

If I get the Beatles kit, I'll also get the MadCatz cymbals to at least try and keep things authentic where possible!

Thanks for any help chaps!

Re: beatles rock band instruments in GH5

personally, I dont think it makes much difference.

I actually prefer the 4 lane chart to the 5 lane chart. Sadly I have to use the 5 lane chart with my kit which is probably why GH and I dont get on.

The only real difference is that you have to know when to hit a tom and when to hit a cymbal with the 4 lane kit but you have to do that on RB anyway and its not as difficult as it sounds.

Re: beatles rock band instruments in GH5

As someone who is terrible at the drums in the both RB and GH and has owned both kits, I much prefer the 4 lane setup as it is far less intimidating and easier to get my head around. I did try the Mad Catz cymbals, but can't say that they really added to the experience for me.

Re: beatles rock band instruments in GH5

Just played Sultans of Swing and it wasnt too bad at all really Didnt feel massively different to using the GHWT kit (maybe the odd green tom missing), but overall very similar.

Pleased with that - overall, very happy with my RBB kit purchase now!

Re: beatles rock band instruments in GH5

I am thinking of getting GH5, so interested in this thread.

What guitar comes with GH5? Is it the WT one?

I wish they just made a one piece Les Paul......

For the record I have RB:TB and have had to return it already as the drums and hoffner have failed within less than 100 songs.

The guitar - press the green and red is activated too. This makes it unusable.
Drums - there are dead zones all over the pads. 2 of them will only activate if you hit exactly in the black circle. Very, very disapointed in the build quality considering the price. The only good thing is that they are wireless and the strummer is silent!

If you go to GAME and ask for the right edition, you should be able to get the GH5 bundle with the updated version of the WT guitar (the one that has the red faceplate). From any other retailer, it's the same (IMO crappy) GHWT guitar in the bundle.
