Rockband Drums £17.99 instore at HMV

I read about this deal earlier today on the Hotdeals website. I called into my local HMV earlier today but I couldn't see any on the shelves so I asked the assistant and she told me a load of the drums arrived today and they were about to be displayed, so I bought a set, they scanned at £19.99 but the website says £17.99, still it's a good deal though.

According to the website they are only available instore..

I'm useless any tips ??

For playing the drums? Practice is the stock answer around these parts. Start on Easy and work your way up.

Practice. Start off on Medium then go to hard then go to expert. Don't rush it. Wax on. Wax off.

Is it really best to start at Medium? Just got my hands on some drums myself but have started out on Easy.

I would personally start on Easy if you're a total newbie (enable Breakneck Speed/Hyperspeed if you find the chart is scrolling too slowly). The hardest thing I found was being able to separate the kick pedal from the pads and starting on Easy helped with that.

Mind you, I have not really got any further than Medium, but that's mainly because I suck at the drums.

Re: Rockband Drums £17.99 instore at HMV

its best to start on whatever you feel comfortable with.

When i started, i played a couple of songs on easy and found the missing notes annoying so moved up to medium. Some friends of mine have done the opposite and stuck with easy and others have done the same as me. Its really all about personal preference.

The advantage i had of course was playing on RB1 where you have to go through the career and start on the easy songs and work your way up.

This isnt as easy to do in RB2 although i would suggest (assuming you have already unloked the songs) working through quickplay and starting with the warmup songs then when you can pass them all, apprentice songs etc etc. Once you can pass all the impossible tier songs comfrotably, move up to the next level and rinse and repeat. If you havent unlcoked all the songs, complete the drum challenges on easy/medium then go the quickplay route for the other difficulties.

Word of advice for newbies when it comes to the bass pedal.
Keep it pressed down all the time. If you need to hit a bass note. Lift your foot and press it down again to hit the note then leave your foot on the pedal in the down position until the next note. Dont keep your foot hovering over the pedal as your shin will hurt.

Practice practice practice is the only way to improve at this game (that goes for all instruments)

as for general tips. Dont eat yellow snow

Re: Rockband Drums £17.99 instore at HMV

Think I'll stick with easy, not failing songs at that level but getting a fair few 3 stars at the same time, so that's probably my right comfort level.
