DLC has been rubbish for ages!

I've not bought any DLC for months, i think were going through a real bad period.

RB DLC is heavily americanised, not heard of most of the random bands they throw up.

You think they are trying to bore us to death so we all buy The Beatles?

Re: DLC has been rubbish for ages!

Its been ok. Some pretty good stuff in there some that im not interested in at all. Nothing has made me think "wow I must buy that" Even the Green day pack didnt excite me as much as i thought the mention of green day would do (if it was songs from dookie it would have!)

Its all subjective though isnt it. What one person likes, another will hate. You cant please everyone all of the time but I agree that the DLC is very Americanised. They slip the odd british band in but not often enough IMHO.

I agree. I think if you put the past couple months against any other period, it would be right up there. I think what may happen with a lot of folks is as their DLC library grows, they may become a little more picky, not saying that's happening in oasismark's case but it certainly happens.

Re: DLC has been rubbish for ages!

Some of its been pretty meh recently, although there have been a few gems, such as the Iron Maiden album.

I do agree with Spidey that people are becoming more choosy - I am. I have so much DLC that I havent played half of it, so now I will only download if I really want those tracks. Thats why the Green Day tracks didn't excite me. All we want are the classics rather than new material.

Re: DLC has been rubbish for ages!

I havent bought anythiung since the maiden pack which is fine by me as i cant get XBL to accept my new credit card and i'm having to buy the points cards (how archaic!!) from shops. Now all my impulse buys go to psn store and apps store as they work fine with my CC. Back OT none fof the recent packs have interested me and its also true as my dlc is now fairly large i have less inclination to experiment. As well as that most of the recent tracks havent been highly rated (well not nearly as highly rated as the maiden pack).

Personally i wouldnt say the recent dlc has been rubbish as thats very subjective, its just not to my taste. Still it would be nice for another set of album announcements like they had last year.

At least you get the odd one, try New Zealand bands... Personally i'm not a big DLCer anyway, but there sure isnt much that appeals to me.

I do wonder if the "expansion" games are hurting DLC too; instead of getting Beatles tracks or Metallica as DLC, they're saved up and shipped as a standalone product, presumably because they think they'll make more money. Disappointing IMO

I guess the only way to see if "DLC has been rubbish for ages" is to see the sales stats, and plot if there has been a decrease in sales or not?

Re: DLC has been rubbish for ages!

Yes, speaking for my taste in music there has been nothing!

I'm a fan of:
  • oasis
  • kasabian
  • Arctic Monkeys
  • that kind of stuff

Probably a standard British sound i guess, these bands are already out thee on RB/GH, so why cant we have more.

Just seams every announcement i just say 'meh'

Anytime i feel like playing a music game, i just stick on GH:Metallica and i'm not really a Metallica fan really, just good songs to play.

how can you miss the enemy off that list Mind you Im not very happy with them for not turning up to Oasis on saturday.

We have some oasis and 1 Kasabian song (who were effin awesome on saturday. they blew oasis away!). GH has Arctic monkeys so hopefully RB will get some soon.

Personally, id like to see some arctics, enemy and wombats as DLC. As someone that mainly plays drums, pretty much all their songs would be great fun to play.

Really? I found them somewhat underwhelming and really don't like Shoot The Runner (which I have in GH3 but not RB) all that much.

Oasis (who I'd never seen live before), on the other hand, were awesome.

I've really enjoyed a lot of the DLC of late, including the Green Day pack which is great on vocals. That said, this weeks selection is a pretty poor show.

shoot the runner isnt one of their better songs (from a RB perspective i mean. I actually really like the song). LSF, processed beats or fire would be pretty cool. I saw kasabian twice in 5 days and they were brilliant both times.

Id never seen oasis before either but i wasnt overly impressed. Plus i think Liam is an idiot and everytime he opened his mouth (except to sing!) I wanted to punch him! Which night did you go plex?

Like you, I was at the concert on Saturday. I usually find Liam somewhat annoying but thought he was quite tolerable on this occasion. I was genuinely surprised at how enjoyable they were, particularly after the bad reviews following their Thursday show.

Re: DLC has been rubbish for ages!

We should have all met for a beer. Mark you had great seats by the looks of it. I was right on the top at the back. Couldnt see anything. I think thats what annoyed me about Oasis as I like to see and they kept putting all the effects on the big screens at the side and i couldnt work out what was going on. That fire video looks good. The crowd went pretty mental when they played that.

Missed Reverand and the makers though. The poeple i was with kept buying beers in the pub and by the time they had finished it was 6pm then it took us 20 mins to get to wembley and get in. they were just finishing as i got there. My mate said they were good though

I was at the back in the seating area on the lowest tier and had a pretty reasonable view, despite Oasis looking like tiny specks on the horizon. Thinking about it, I guess it would have taken about half an hour to get round to where Mark was, especially with all the people there.

The group I was with just sang along with all the songs (thankfully, they played all 4 that are available for Rock Band!), with the standout being the crowd singalong of Don't Look Back In Anger, and had a great time, in spite of the less-than-ideal view.

In contrast, I had a dreadful time at the last Wembley gig I went to (Foo Fighters) because I was standing - which I would have honestly preferred not to - in an area surrounded by idiots chucking beer and, ahem, other fluids everywhere. Which is not my idea of fun.

We had a fair bit of beer being chucked about where we were sat. That really does annoy me. Why bother, no one wants to get drenched in beer and secondly its a waste of beer. As for other bodily fluids that is just wrong. Ive seen a few people about to do it over the years at various gigs and thankfully, everytime someone sees them most people tend to have a go at them so they end up tipping it on the floor instead.Thankfully, everything that hit me at Oasis was cold

I was standing at the foo fighters and didnt get anything thrown over me.

Maybe that's what Activison and EA need to make their DLC more realistic; DLC fluids? A little device to spray random liquids at you while playing!

Anyway, back to your band-camp reminiscing...

Back on topic-ish; i kinda wish they'd put a few updates out to improve the core game. All this dev-time for song DLC, but why not a small one to add saved playlists, better stat tracking or showing what difficulty you've completed songs on? All not very taxing, and would improve the core experience

well after you slanderous comment that i kill kittens i really shouldnt even grace you with a response

There is a patch coming out allegedly this summer which is supposed to include the Lips patch (confirmed) and giving the gold stars back (although this has only been hinted at not confirmed) and apparently some other things too so maybe they will add some tweeks to the gameplay.
