re: Guitar Hero Greatest Hits: Play and Help Thread

I played GH:WT for about a week and I was quickly fed up of seeing the same character on-stage animations at the end of the song when you've nothing else to look at. The "not worthy" motion in particular. 2 days of ownership of GH:Hits and I'm seeing exactly the same thing over and over here too. Ooooo, it's one of those little irrelevant things that really annoys me rather too much!

I'm really enjoying playing GH:Metallica, specifically the Metallica songs as I've barely touched the bonus songs on that disc TBH. I'm finding the mix of artists/songs spread across umpteen discs (GH:WT, GH:M, GH:GH) to be frustrating, as has already been well documented by others.

Also, the GH:GH Achievements look to be a very close mirror to the GH:M set.

re: Guitar Hero Greatest Hits: Play and Help Thread

....and it was going so well.....!

All the way to the final venue on expert guitar, only dropping a couple of stars along the way. It is easier than the other games, either because of the timing window or different note charts (I'm talking about you Freya ).

Get to the last songs, Play With Me was never completed on GH: RT80s so straight into that and completed (only just mind you) first attempt. Bring it on.

Raining Blood........ Never got to this on expert on GH3, but the first mosh section.......he he. Back to practice.

Enjoying this - there are some ommissions (more RT80s needed, especially The Warrior!!!!!!) and the note charts are different (some better, some worse), but still enjoying playing the first GH tunes. Although I do wonder if all of the GH1 and RT80s tunes shouldn't have been made available as DLC so you could pick and choose your own greatest hits........

Just wondering but is this the first game to add crowd singalongs? Because I don't remember them in World Tour.

ive never passed it on hard on gh3.

i like this game, much better than wt for me. but sometimes i wonder why did they change the notecharts. i know they have to put some slidey parts in but i feel theres too much, especially on freebird

They wrecked solo A on One on GH:M by adding the stupid slider notes, far too easy. I wish they would just drop the stupid gimmick already. I may rent this game as I've got all the previous GH titles anyway.

GH Aerosmith has it, think WT has it as well but can't be sure.

I think that as the games series is continuing the hammer-on and pull-offs have been getting a lot easier. Not played GH2 for a couple of months as it's at my mates but i remember that being an absolute nightmare for precision and everything since then just seems 'easy'

The thing I hated about GHWT was the way that it 'stored' your strums when there was a HO or PO followed by some more strummed notes. i.e. a HO followed by 2 strums - I'd strum 3 times sometimes but the game would automatically 'strum' the HO for me, count the 2 strums and then give me a duff note for my 3rd strum since it had automatically played the first of the 3 notes (the hammer-on). Hope that made sense lol!

This site has the song list with music clips of each song.
Must admit the price is putting me off getting this at the moment!
Still got lots to do in Rock Band 2 and World Tour!!

re: Guitar Hero Greatest Hits: Play and Help Thread

only really played this on drums and some of them are great fun to play.

I still struggle to read the charts properly though. Im just too used to RB. Its awkward playing rolls as they miss out the "yellow" tom which makes rolls annoying (oh and this has ruined more than a feeling for me) I take it you have to beat all the songs before you unlock the final set? Ive got stop and freya to beat but raining blood, yyz, laid to rest and a couple of others havent appeared yet.

Tried a few on guitar. Those slider notes still annoy me. I dont understand the point of them. they seem like a gimmick to sell a new guitar and dont actually have a purpose. They could just make them ho/pos.

Definately better put together than World Tour mind you.

Actually, the beauty of the slider notes is that they can be played in many ways.

- You can use the slider (which I personally don't).
- You can just tap the buttons (which I do on some songs).
- You can strum them as normal.
- You can play them as HOPO's.

I think it's pretty neat how you can interperate them how you like and not lose any combo. I tend to do a mix of just tapping buttons, or play them like HOPO's depending upon the song.

No, I'd get a lower score cos I'd strum 3 notes but the game would play the HO note (the first of the 3 notes) so my strumming and the HO combined would effectively be playing 4 notes and it would give me a duff note and cancel my score multiplier after the sequence of notes had passed the strum line at the bottom of the screen.

thats why i've learned never to strum hammer ons lol..

And as for slider notes, since GH3 i've always slid my fingers up and down the guitar anyway lol.. so the solo notes are easy to me ^_^

Totally, it's just force of habit from playing GH2 and the HO's and PO's just being so tight with their timing (and my timing being crap!)

I have learnt through a lot of playing, that if you want to strum the HO/PO hold the note well before it comes up. Obviously this depends on what song your on and you cant be playing gh3

I like this game alot better than GH4, the drums seem better, less emphasis on the orange symbol, well from what i have played anyway and the guitar seems a bit easier

you need a guitar controller to play the guitar..
same as drums to play drums.. all you can do atthe moment is sing with the standard controller.
