Re: rock band official silencers

Mine worked great but only after cutting off the coloured ring so it sat inside the pad area.

Before modifying them the sensitivity suffered, they are sized to cover the whole pad, rim included which produced dead spots round the edge.

Defo recommend them though after attacking them with scissors as they make quite a difference to the noise produced.

Here's what they look like after my cack-handed scissoring.

Re: rock band official silencers

Just should add that the pads won't make them silent, but more of a "thud" compared to the naked pad's annoying "tock" noise.

Re: rock band official silencers

Odd, my official silencers fitted my EL drums like a glove. No cutting needed, and they stayed in place without a problem.

As mentioned, it changes the sound from a sharp thwack to a duller thud, and they do affect sensitivity, but I did the penny mod on my ELs and that helped loads.

How significantly would you say sound is improved/reduced?

Re: rock band official silencers

They aren't silent if that's what you mean.

It's a definite improvement, nowhere near as annoying as without.
