Question Any point in keeping GH3 & WT if I'm getting Greatest Hits?

Hi all,

As per title really, I'm thinking of getting GH: Greatest hits later this month and I'm wondering if there's really any benefit in me keeping GHIII and World Tour, or should I flog them now?

Ta.

Just compare the track lists.
I'm betting there'd be a few tracks on both that you'd miss if you sold the games and just had the GH.
GH3 is dirt cheap now anyway so you might as well hang on to it, i got mine in the 2 for £18 pre owned section in blockbuster (with mirror's edge - top deal), it was in mint condition and looked like it had never been in a console

Re: Any point in keeping GH3 & WT if I'm getting Greatest Hits?

I was thinking if there's any reason to keep GH:WT when GH5 comes out.

Its already been said that all GH:WT DLC will work in GH5, AND GH:WT tracks can be exported into GH5.

There seems to be mixed messages about whether there will be an export option for GHWT or not. Despite what the Eurogamer article says, nothing has been officially confirmed by Activision.

The GH5 press release is also a bit careful with the wording about the GHWT DLC. It seems to imply that not all of it will work (I would guess that the Hendrix stuff might not make the jump).

Re: Any point in keeping GH3 & WT if I'm getting Greatest Hits?

personally, im keeping WT especially if this export thing is true.

As for GH3, alot of the songs are available on either GH or RB now so unless there are songs on there that you will miss you may aswell get rid. Im keeping mine as i made the mistake of buing DLC for it and i feel its a waste if i get rid of it. Not that i play it that often as i cant stand using the les paul. If they let me use my strat it would get played far more.

I will keep mine as I suspect the difficulty level in the new versions will not be quite as hard as GH II or III were, plus downloads I paid for when playing those originally may not work elsewhere

I've also been playing a lot of GH II recently which has reminded me what a great game it is in it's own right

You know the first thing I did when I heard DLC would be transferable? Bought the Hendrix packs, which I'd been holding out on but figured I should get now safe in the knowledge I'd be able to play it in years time. Week later they amend the statement to "most DLC" and like you, I'm guessing it'll be the Hendrix stuff not making the cut. Bloody typical.

You could test that now using the demo. They worked in the metallica demo.

As I said in other thread, Activision have said that going forward all of the Guitar Hero games will be compatible with the Lips mics. I have just tested them with the demo and they worked just fine (I was even able to 5 star all 3 songs on Expert).

I still prefer the Logitech mics though.

Re: Any point in keeping GH3 & WT if I'm getting Greatest Hits?

Thanks everyone, although I still don't know what to do!

The main reason I kept GH III was for Through the Fire and the Flames, so seeing as that's in there I may as well flog that!

In honest, I'm not actually playing WT much at the moment either (except for recently having grabbed So What by Pink!), so maybe now is the time to sell it to.

I just need to be sure that any DLC that i have bought for WT works in Greatest Hits.

[Edit] - But then again, what if there's an "Export" option.....

In short: it won't.

The reason is that GH:GH doesn't support the WT DLC. It's GH5 that will be compatible with most of the GHWT DLC, so if you have any I would advise you to hang on to WT until GH5 is released.

Re: Any point in keeping GH3 & WT if I'm getting Greatest Hits?

I'm considering getting rid of WT now as it's crap. I put it back in the other day to play the free track The Touch with a friend over xbox live. How stupid of me was it to expect I could get him invited to a quick game (drummer and guitar) and simply play my DLC, of course it wouldn't let me do this which having played RB so much seems ridiculous. This was the final straw for me and I'm never going to play the game again.

GH3 I'll always kepp as I'll always keep going back to 5* the hard tour and beat Expert. Every singles point of gamerscore in that game is worth 10 in another.

Re: Any point in keeping GH3 & WT if I'm getting Greatest Hits?

I've been replaying GH3 recently and think it is one of the best music games with one of the strongest setlists. The diifficulty of the songs has been overstated - apart from TTFAF it's easier than RB2's setlist. Crucially it has a no-nonsense multiplayer system for face-off and co-op which isn't totally broken like WT/GH:M and probably every GH in future at this rate. Even the DLC was better for GH3.
