Weekly Rock Band Favourite Song Club!

Each Monday someone sets their favourite song to play?

Simple as that!

Any instrument, doesn't have to be the song your best at, just what you enjoy playing!

During the week, give the song a try and just post your opinions.
Why you like it? any funny stories attached?

I think it will also open up songs to people who've never player certain songs as they not familiar with the band/song.

The idea is to try make it fun, so choose your own difficulty level.

Dont know how we'll choose the next weeks suggester, as i want to keep 'high scores' out of the equation.

I'll start by suggesting:

Pump It Up by Elvis Costello played on BASS!

I didn't know the song at all before RB2, played it in career mode on guitar and heard the bass, so gave bass a try. I totally LOVE playing it on bass, just think it's a good funky bass line and nice finger movements. It's not fast or complicated, just makes me bop around the room.

Hope you all enjoy it.

This is not a competition!

List of songs already suggested:

Pump It Up, by Elvis Costello - Bass
Paranoid, by Garbage - Guitar
Laid to Rest, by Lamb of God - Drums (DLC)
Roll with the changes, by REO Speedwagon - Guitar (DLC)
Use Me, by Hinders - Guitar (DLC)
Alive - Pearl Jam - drums

Re: Weekly Rock Band Favourite Song Club!

Excellent idea mark, nice informal play selection sounds like a good idea! Ill definatly join in!

Will be hard deciding who is going to choose the next song without using score though.

Without wanting to seam like a 'Thank You' whore.

How about everyone who wants to put a suggestion in, thanks the person who suggested that week. Then just do a random number generator.

Re: Weekly Rock Band Favourite Song Club!

we could just take it in turns to pick the next weeks song. I would imagine that the same people are going to participate each week and just have like a rota or something to pick.

ill definately be giving this a go at some point this week. Good idea mate

Re: Weekly Rock Band Favourite Song Club!

Was playing yesterday and "pump it up" was thrown in a couple of times. Will give it a go on the Bass

Don't know the game well enough to recommend anything that has stood out to me yet. Although, I did find Dinosaur Jr's "feel the pain" fiendishly tough in places.

Re: Weekly Rock Band Favourite Song Club!

I agree with the everyone else that this is a good idea - might also give people the push to try song/instrument combo's they wouldn't usually go for too.

No ideas about how to decide who picks the next weeks song, that haven't already been mentioned though.

Re: Weekly Rock Band Favourite Song Club!

Just tried pump it up on bass and it was good. Admitidly im still playing on easy but after I stepped up to medium and did OK, still enjoyed it too. I really cant see myself being able to use all 5 frett buttons though.

I am going to play medium as much as poss now. After pump it up I tried Smooth Criminal, boy was it different on medium, still great though.

Re: Weekly Rock Band Favourite Song Club!

Anyone fancy playing "Pump it" up as a band on Thursday evening (plus a few other tracks of course ) ? I have never played RB2 online so will be a new experience for me. I play Guitar and Bass on medium and finish most songs between 96%-100%. I should probably move to hard but I enjoy blasting through tracks. Eitherway whatever difficulty is fine with me.

Re: Weekly Rock Band Favourite Song Club!

tried this last night and firstly i'd like to thank Mark for suggesting it. I dont usually like playing bass as i find it boring but this was great fun.

Had I have been standing up (id just played football and was knackered so i sat down) i'd definately have been bopping around the room. As it was I was bopping on my sofa instead

Its not overly difficult and if you can handle hard guitar, you should have no problem playing this on expert but its great fun.

good choice mate

Cheers Mark.

Ill go with Garbage - Paranoid - Guitar
Never listened to any of their music before RB and not a big fan of any of there stuff since I need to make an effort and listen to an album or two to see if it grows on me but this track I love to bits!

Not a massive fan of the chart for this tbh but i do recommend giving "Version 2.0" album a listen.

Loved it when i was younger!

What happened to this? It seems to have died. It was a great idea.

I havent played I think im paranoid for a while but its the 1st song i FC'd on RB1. Might give it a go later. Havent picked up the guitar properly for a while. I've been too busy wailing on the drums.

Re: Weekly Rock Band Favourite Song Club!

I played this over the weekend but never posted back here. I think more than owt else this brought back memories of RB1 for me since I don't seem to play it very often with RB2.

Enjoyable song and the nostalgia factor alone makes it a big from me.

Lets keep this thread going coz I for one have been enjoying it so far.

Laid to Rest, by Lamb of God.

Fantastic drumming experience, not too frenetic, but gives your legs a work out if you know what i mean
