Divx on 360

Just wondering if anyone else has this problem?

My 360 sits in my l/room hooked up to the net. I usually put a film on the usb stick and play it via the dashboard.

However, when I take the 360 to the bedroom to watch a film which has no net connection, it pops up and tells me a optional media update is required (even though I have downloaded it about 800 times)...

Any ideas on how get movies working on a stick without a net con nection?

Thanks

Delete the Optional Media Update from the Hard Drive and then download it again. Also you might want to transfer the licences over using the DRM tool from Xbox.com.

I am guessing your 360 has been replaced or repaired recently.

No, he's already done that..
he needs to delete the optional media update, and then create a new silver account, and re-download the optional media update on that silver account..log off, and switch off the 360.
now you can play them offline, as long as that silver account is left intact, and the media update is left alone.

Thats a round about way isnt it ?
Surely its just the licence so if you did the transfer it would work.

whats the point...every time you make a new silver account, you can download the media update, and itll work offline..as long as the silver account is still there, and the media update that the silver account downloaded remains.
delete the silver account/media update, create new profile, download another media update, and itll work again offline.

the DRM on that media update has been broken since the NXE last year..

utterly pointless wasting the once a year DRM tool, just for a media update that can do what the OP wants with 30 seconds to 1 minutes work on the 360!!

Re: Divx on 360

Cheers guys...I will try that.

Bit strange you need a seprate silver account just to do this. I am guessing that it won't work on gold as thats an activated live account??
