Hi all

How do you rate the HD quality of the movies on xbox marketplace?
I bought a LG 50PS3000 yesterday and i'm really happy with it.
I downloaded valkarye in HD and watched a bit of it yesterday.
Although the picture was a lot more detailed and a lot more sharp than dvd, i was a little dissapointed. I watched a blu-ray at my mates a couple of weeks ago and it looked absolutely stunning.

So my question is...Should there be a noticable difference between the 2 on a 50" tv? If there isn't much difference then maybe my tv doesn't handle HD as good as my mates. Mine is a full 1080p set.

Despite being a HD file your download is still heavily compressed. There really is no substitute for a Bluray right now IMHO especially when you consider the lack of 5.1 support via the marketplace downloads.

You cant beat a good bluey, Sky HD can sometimes come close, but nothing downloaded over the internet unless it is actually a ripped blu-ray can compare.

Pick up a cheap 2nd hand Xbox HD DVD add on and a couple of cheap discs. They'll be a lot better than the d/l from Marketplace, and better value too.

Sky HD is pretty hit a miss when films are concerned. Some look amazing, other no better than DVD, overall there are more 'goods' than 'bads'

Blu ray is still the best bet though. Saw Sin-city the other night and was blown away by how good the PQ was.

Also make sure your picture settings/calibration are set properly. This can affect the way (especially films) are presented.
