Xbox 360 Aug 11 update broke MP4 Streaming

I have been using WMP11 on my Vista laptop for ages with no problems for a while now. After I installed the new Xbox dashboard update it no longer recognises .mp4 extension movies! What happened? Anyone else have this?

The workaround is to rename the .mp4 to .avi but I dont like these stopgap fixes, why did things change with this update?

Have you tried deleting and re-downloading the 'Optional Media Update'?

yes i did do that, no luck.

noone else suffers from this problem after installing the 11 august update?

Not tried it with an .mp4 unfortunately, pretty sure most of my videos are .avi, but I'll have a look for you next time I get a chance

I know the last problem I had with videos was solved by re-downloading the update so thought that might have helped here.

I watched an MP4 last night ok, but I think I was using TVersity - I'll have a look using the Media Player later..

mp4´s play fine here, just as they did before
