Putting music onto Xbox360 Elite

I have downloaded most of my favourite songs onto my laptop and now want to put these onto my Xbox so I can listen over the top of my gameswhile I play.

I have tried putting the songs onto a Sony Microvault USB drive, and can play the songs from that when plugged into the front of my Xbox, but it won't allow me to copy the songs over onto the hdd.

Any suggestions?

You cant copy from a USB Drive, you can rip the cd's onto the Hard Drive by putting the disc in the drive and ripping them.
Does not take long for an Album.

Or you could keep the USB Drive attached and play from that.
I have an External USB Hard Drive attached to mine with all my music stored on it and i play all the music via that.

If its an external drive its needs to be HFS+ or FAT32 format for the 360 to recocgnise it.

Or you could stream from your laptop, or maybe, just maybe, play the music on your sound system

Maybe he doesnt want to keep it all on the laptop and maybe he's like me and does not have a stereo system where the Xbox is and wants to play through the tv.

Thats how mine is setup, everything goes through the TV as i dont have a sound system.

Thats exactly why I want to have it on the Xbox, so I can play it through the sound system along with the sound effects for the game I'm playing.

As I don't have a Hi-Fi in my living room! Not enough of a music nut.
