Mac to Xbox 360 using 360Connect

I recently purchased full version of 360connect for my mac and its working great for viewing pics and listening to music on my 360.
However I'm having a n'mare trying to view .avi movie files.
Tried importing the .avis into IMovie with view to save as a .mov file but it took 15mins to save a 5 min sample and then it didn't even work.!!

1) Do I need to convert to MP4?
2) Can I convert .avi to MP4 using QTAmateur ?
3) Can I retain the 5.1 S/Sound going from .avi to MP4 using QTAmateur ?
4) Would buying a Media HardDrive with Firewire, copying my files to it then plugging it directly into the 360 improve anything? (other than just storage space and stream)?

I'm new to this and its doing my head in as there seems to be so many ways to do this but all seem to be long winded and leave you with a compromised file.

My ideal is to store HD material on my mac with 5.1 and play these via my Xbox & HD 720 projector.
Any advice (that works) will be rewarded with unprecedented love.

I don't know about any converting I'm afraid, but just thought I should point out that any external HD you use with the 360 would have to be USB, not Firewire as the 360 doesn't have Firewire ports.

Question Re: Mac to Xbox 360 using 360Connect

I am running the trial version. Installed on my mac book. Xbox is not showing a netwook connection>?

My xbox currently is running through my Airport woreless network, along with my macbook. But the xbox does not show a PC connected to the network?

How do I get this network on the same "page". so I can stream music wirelessly?

thanks in advance,
Scott
