Problem with MKV File Conversion

Hi,

I've been having a problem with a 1080p MKV file that I got last week.I tried converting in Gotsent to use with my Xbox 360 and it came up with the error

"This AVC file is not playable on PS3 (black screen) or 360 (extreme artifacts). Recode to Xvid, MPEG2 or h264 to be able to play this file."

I don't really understand that message but I have tried converting the mkv to AVI using a few different programs. Can anyone explain what the error message means please?

I just tried demuxing the file and it produced two files, one is a .h264 file and the other, the audio, is .ac3.

I don't really udnerstand why I can't convert it with Gotsent or XenonMKV as I have converted previous 1080p files that have worked perfectly with the 360.

GSpot doesn't give me any information about the MKV file other than the container type which is obviously MKV.

Is Gotsent giving this message because the audio is AC3? Does it need to be AAC or something?

ANy help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Chris
