Media files not playing

I have a problem with some of my media files not playing on my Xbox's WMC but they play on the pc's version. Any one know why? And if its to do with codecs is there a programme I can get to convert the files to basic AVI files, and if so will it do say like more than 1 file at a time I have a lot of stuff to convert and if conversion time is high then I cba doing 1 at a time.

I have Any Video Converter and it seems to do pretty much everything.

I'm pretty sure you can stack files too, and have different options set up for conversion for each one.

Can't comment on any other programs sorry.
