Duplicate Tracks in Media Player

Hi

I've recently acquired an Xbox 360 and I'm really impressed with it so far. One small problem, however, is with the media centre. Music on my Vista Laptop is in the public folder and the 360 is picking it up. However, it duplicates every track in the library. So for example each album plays every track twice.

Any ideas how to correct this?

Cheers

Re: Duplicate Tracks in Media Player

Various different ways this problem could arise. Take a look at the thread linked below. Hopefully that will be of some help

Thanks. I'll have a read over that.

Re: Duplicate Tracks in Media Player

WMP11 makes 3 copies of every track in it's library in my experience so causes the issue for me.

What you need to do is delete all the tracks from the library, not the computer just the library, then go to the music files in Windows Explorer and drag and drop them into your library.

Problem solved.

Re: Duplicate Tracks in Media Player

This is really bugging me

Right, my two scenarios are as follows...

1) Windows Media Centre does not pick up all my albums and the ones it does pick up has each track duplicated giving me double of what it thinks I've got. I'd prefer to use the media centre as it has a better interface and displays all of the album covers.

2) Loading the music into WMP11 has a better effect but still doesn't load up all of the albums. This isn't as bad but there's still a few missing from my iTunes library. I've checked that these are mp3 and not mp4 as iTunes prefers.

The parts that do work work very well so it's particularly frustrating that it's not 100%. Oh and I've tried Tversity but it doesn't seem to work with the Media Centre and still misses a handful of albums.

Any ideas?

Cheers
